Author's Note: Hey, sorry about how this is spaced, guys. For some reason,
things are not coming out exactly how I'd like, so in order for me to
indent for a new paragraph, I had to mess with some things...so how the "A
woman kneeled..." and "Naqita pushed Alenien..." are indented, that's my indent
for a new paragraph...sorry for the mess up. God bless!!!
Chapter 2
A woman kneeled outside a house window, tending to a garden of
flowers. She smiled to herself and looked out towards the sparkling
blue water of Lake Hylia. Her attention, however, was then drawn
towards the soft humming she heard coming from her friend who was
making her way up the large hill. She stood and crossed her arms,
waiting and listening.
"I want to thank you again for helping me, Naqita. It is tiring walking up and down the hill to get water for these flowers."
The woman, Nena, said once Naqita was closer. Naqita nodded, handing her the pale of water she had been asked to get from the lake.
"You have not been here for quite a bit."
Nena said as she kneeled once more and slowly poured the water from the pale onto the soil that the flowers were planted in.
"I know, I know. How is your husband and father?"
Naqita asked, glancing towards the fishing house that stood across the lake. Nena was married to the owner of the fishing house and her father was the elderly man inside the laboratory.
"Oh, they are doing wonderfully."
Pausing, Nena watched her.
"And how are you? Has anything new happened?"
Naqita shook her head, knowing what her friend was truly trying to ask.
"No, no one has returned..."
Nena looked away, as though she was holding something back from Naqita. Naqita raised a brow as Nena began to speak, hesitation in her voice.
"Naqita, there was a woman in the marketplace. She was asking about you, but she looked like no one you would know, so I said nothing."
A puzzled look came over Naqita as Nena spoke.
"Do you think she is still there?"
Naqita asked curiously and smiled as Nena nodded.
"I believe she shall be staying until nightfall...but Naqita, she had an odd look to her. I do not know what it was, but I would think twice before leaving..."
Naqita smiled, whistling for Alenien.
"I do not have time for that, my friend. I must be leaving now. Thank you for the news, Nena."
Naqita mounted Alenien and clicked her tongue. She waved good-bye to her friend before Alenien jumped the gate that separated the outsiders of Hyrule from Lake Hylia. Naqita smiled again, thoughts running through her mind. Perhaps this woman carried news of her lost friends. How else would she know about her? Along with all these good thoughts, though, came fear and doubt.
Naqita pushed Alenien to run faster for the suspense was eating away
at her. As they reached the marketplace, Alenien slowed to a stop at
Naqita's command. Naqita dismounted and began walking towards the
bridge to enter the marketplace. Alenien walked besides her, having no
choice since she held his reins in her hand. As they reached the
stables, Naqita handed Alenien's reins over to the stable boy.
"Be good, Alenien..."
She whispered to her horse, receiving a snort as he was brought into the stables. Smiling, she turned and entered the market place. It was unusually crowded today and after a bit of being pushed around, she was beginning to become agitated. After what seemed like ages, she found a small empty area in one of the alleyways and took a deep breath. She leaned against a wall, glancing from side to side.
"Where could this woman be..."
She began to mutter to herself, but before long, she saw someone walking slowly in her direction. The person was wearing a cloak, making it impossible for Naqita to make out who it was until they began to speak.
"Hello there, miss."
The person drew back their cloak, revealing an aged face, but one that showed nothing but sincerity and kindness. Her voice, despite her age, was smooth and beautiful.
"I believe that you are the one I am looking for. You match the description I was given."
She pulled out a piece of paper, holding it close to her face and squinting her eyes. Occasionally, she would glance up from the paper to her, and then back to the paper, confirming what she was reading. "You are fairly tall...your skin is tanned...blue eyes...black hair...you dress in an odd form of Gerudo clothing." She looked at her questioningly.
"You are like no Gerudo I have seen before, child..."
After a moment, she shrugged and continued.
"You wear a beautiful silver cross around your neck."
Smiling, the woman nodded.
"Now what is your name? I can not quite remember....would it be....Teresa?"
Frowning, Naqita shook her head.
"No...no, I'm afraid you have the wrong person. My name is Naqita."
She sighed, beginning to walk around the woman, disappointment overwhelming her.
"Wait! Wait! It was Naqita! You are the one I'm looking for!"
Smiling, Naqita spun around and looked at her.
"Really? Then what is the news you bring me? Who is it from?"
The old woman smiled, apparently very pleased with herself at being able to deliver the message.
"You are to meet someone at Telinelp. It is a town far from here....I doubt you have ever been there. Abandoned, it is."
The old woman shook her head before speaking again.
"The way to get there is simple, however. I am assuming you know of Lake Hylia."
Without waiting for an answer, the woman continued.
"Go to Lake Hylia and leave through the opposite pair of gates nearby. That 'tis the exit of Hyrule."
Naqita's eyes widened. She had never known that just by going through those gates, she would be able to leave Hyrule. Actually, she had never really thought about what was behind those gates. She just obeyed the orders given to everyone that no one was to go behind them unless on approved business by the king of Hyrule. The rule was established to keep everyone in Hyrule safe from outsiders and trespassers that were not needed. The woman spoke again.
"After leaving Hyrule, continue on a bit until you reach a large hill. Climb the hill and you should be able to see the town you are to go to. It is the only one for miles."
With another smile, the woman patted her on the shoulder.
"You should be fine, dear. Do not worry about a thing."
And with those words, the woman turned and left Naqita to think to herself in the alley. Many thoughts went through her mind. This wasn't the message she had expected to receive, though curiosity was beginning to over take her. Nodding, she walked out of the alleyway and made her way through the bustling town. As she reached the horse stables, she quickly brought Alenien out of his stable without the stable boy's help and mounted him. The boy quickly opened the door as Alenien and Naqita seemed to fly out of the stable house, riding west. Jumping the gates blocking Lake Hylia from Hyrule Field as usual, she jumped off Alenien in mid-canter and landed gracefully. She ran to the house her friend Nena lived at and gave an urgent knock to the door, not wanting to waste time. Nena quickly opened the door and looked at her with bewilderment.
"What? What is it, Naqita?"
Naqita, out of breath, smiled.
"I am leaving Hyrule, Nena....I am leaving Hyrule."
