Kaiba0302: Okay, this poem is a bit more sketchy. It deals with a main theme of Gundam Wing: When the war is over, what happens next? This is a take on the Gundam boys, after the war is over, wanting to live in the peaceful world they helped create instead of melting back into the shadows as unsung heroes. I wrote this one in L.A. out of sheer boredom, and thought it sounded G.W.-ish.

I don't own 'em. Wish I did, but I don't. Wow, never saw THAT coming.

Once the Rain Has Fallen

War may not be a waltz
But it's damn well endless
By the end I'm crushed and torn
Alone in the dark and friendless

The battles rage on; pounding in my head
The driving beat behind the melody of war
The adrenaline rush and feeling of power
Take me higher than I've ever flown before

In the heat of battle, when the fear is thick
The strong die, and the weak remain
Trust in yourself is your only comfort
Soothing as the softest rain

The shadows lengthen; the fear is mounting
On the red battlefield, you cannot hide
The enemy scatters and flees for home
Like crabs from the swelling of the tide

The battlefield weeps for lives once past
The blood of many a soldier nurturing her soil
Her long tangled tresses hide evidence of war
Grown long through sweat and toil

Amongst the tangled weeds and drying blood
There stands an empty open tomb
What does it mean, and why is it here?
Why, but more importantly, for whom?

From the dark, there stems a whisper
The speaker a solemn-eyed boy
He grew up too fast, this youthful soldier
War was his game; a gun was his toy

From his heart there flickers a dawn
Harboring a thought; a hope; a dream
To protect this world he has created
The dark not as thick as it may seem

What is his name; from where does he hail?
His life has known nought but war
He is no-name; enigma of the shadows
An anonymous legend of lore
