Chapter 4.
Ahhhhhh....the comforts of home...and modern technology...
Earlier that day, as kagome climbed up the ladder in the well, she was confronted by a splash of smelly liquid to the head. Upon closer inspection (basically her nose) she found it to be sake. Curious, kagome looked up, but regretted doing so when even more of the sake came down on her eyes, followed by chanting and burning mantra scrolls, causing her to be temporarily blind. Thus, letting go of the ladder to rub her eyes. Not a smart thing to do when the only thing holding you up are unstable legs. And like the theory goes, what is up, must come down. Ok, maybe that's NOT the actual theory..but lets pretend it is...shall we? Anyways, back to kagome. With a startled yell, she fell backwards and hit the floor of the well hard. She slowly opened her eyes to see the shrine roof..and her grandfather's head. Slowly, and silently, she re-climbed the ladder. This time, without looking up. As she reached the top of the well, her grandfather cautiously called out "kagome..?"
"Ji-chan?" answered kagome without looking up.
"Yes dear?" he asked tentatively.
"Run" was the only warning he got before she picked up her head and glared at him.
"AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
'Wow...for an old man..he sure can run quick.' kagome thought as she watched her ji-chan tear through the sliding doors of the well house and to Kami knows where. Probably to hide under his bed. Or worse! Telling some poor, poor soul about the history of pickles!! That would be a nightmare on earth!
Kagome reached over her shoulder to re-adjust her bag before walking off to the main house. As soon as she walked through the door and took off her shoes, she saw pink. Kagome blinked. And blinked again. Nope, still pink. It took her startled mind to realize that the pink was only her mother hugging her. It took a few minutes to reister that her mother was taking away sweet oxygen.
"Mother..air..can't..."
"Oh! Sorry dear. I was so worried about you! Did that young man with the ears keep you again? Such a sweet boy he is.."
Kagome looked at her mother skeptically. Inuyasha? Sweet? Those two words didn't go in the same sentence! But then again, her mother didn't know much on inuyasha to judge him yet.
She pulled herself out of her musings to go to the kitchen for a snack. It seemed as if they were having oden for dinner by the smell of it. Mmmmmm....oden....the best thing in the world! Slowly, drool began to form at the edges of her mouth.
"Kagome dear! Why don't you go take a bath while I prepare dinner?" he mother's voice pulled her out of her oden-clogged mind and kagome ran upstairs to take a quick shower. There wasn't a minute to spare! Not with oden for dinner!
Soon dinner was served and she ate all her dinner (in about 1.45 seconds! A new record!) and made her way to bed. Which brings us to now....
Ahhhhhh....the comforts of home...and modern technology...
As she thought about today, she thought back to the little sake incident. She was still a little peeved at her grandfather, and hadn't spoken to him throughout dinner (which wasn't much. Considering the time it took her to finish, she couldn't have spoken a single word while eating).
As she closed her eyes and was about to drift on to dream world, she wondered to herself why the well didn't take her to the past when she fell....
dang..this seems pretty short..to make up for that, I'll post the next chapter ASAP. But that sorta depends on jineka, considering that I have to email her mai stories so she can post it for me...T.T
