Hey everybody this is my first fan fic could you please give me a review. This is about Walters last day, I thought I might just write it because it doesn't explain very much about Walter dying, PS I don't don't own any of the characters L M Montgomery does and forever will

The "Piper" Comes Walter Blythe had just finished writing a letter to his sweet beloved family, and with a sigh thought of all the old times lived in Ingleside with his family. He missed all the times that Susan had baked him his favorite meals and his sweet beautiful mother smiling down at him when she tucked him in at night. His handsome father with his sparkling hazel eyes, his dear brothers and sisters, and all the times he had spent living in fairy land down at beautiful Rainbow Valley. He also missed exchanging dear secrets with Diana. He could almost smell Ingleside in spring with all the flowers blooming, and he could hear the laughter that forever chimed in that old house.

Suddenly he was awoken from his wonderful daydream by his mate Dave who he had met whilst enlisting for the Great War. There was going to be a great battle fought the next day, Courcelette, and both Walter and Dave knew that they probably wouldn't make it through.

Dave and Walter were sitting peacefully at a campfire just outside a tent, then Dave said unexpectedly to Walter "What do you think that heaven will be like?" Walter sat there for a few moments silently thinking, then he said to Dave "Paradise" then he continued "it will be a beautiful valley with brooks and flowers blanketing the countryside, much more beautiful than this world" Walter sighed and took a breath and finished with "the ones that you loved who had passed away and loved you will meet you there so that you wont be lonely" at that moment Walter was thinking of his older sister Joyce who the others had sometimes talked about, Captain Jim, and Grandma and Grandpa Shirley.

Walter had never known death before however after he had enlisted he had realized that death was staring at him in the face.

That night Walter couldn't sleep, for he knew what was coming for him the next day. The next morning Walter ate a soldier's breakfast and dressed. Walter looked rather dashing in his khaki uniform and privately he had wished that his mother could see him right now. After one last thought of his loving parents Walter was called to his 'Duties'. Walter was never a brave one, however this day he marched off as proud and as brave as the king of all beasts.

It was a long hard hour that Walter had fought then suddenly Walter was pierced through the centre of his heart by a speeding bullet, he fell to his knees clutching his wound. At that same moment Walter's whole life flashed in front of his eyes, his joys and his sorrows. Suddenly Walter fell to the ground . He was lying in the mud and his own blood, took one last breath and slowly closed his eyes, with a faint distant smile, leaving this beautiful world behind him. The Piper had come.
