The autumn leaves fell upon the dry grass, as my crystallized tears fell
along my
cheek. Riku's pale face was grim, although suspicious. As Sora's mother walked
among the desiccated grass, the mourners carried the casket across the parched
plains. I held my handkerchief close to my chest, while my dress drenched in
brackish tears. You probably don't know what is happening at the moment but can
tell that someone has died. Sora died right in front of my eyes. He suffered, oh so
much. I cannot bear to think about. But I must tell you what had happened before
this treacherous thing that has passed before my very own eyes.
So let's all start from the beginning . . . . . .
7 days ago. . . . . .
"Hey Sora! Pass me the rake!!!!!"
Sora was upon the shore of the Destiny Islands, with his eyes closed with
drowsiness.
I threw a small pebble at his head, and he immediately woke up with vigilance
"KAIRI! WATCH OUT! THE HEARTLESS ARE DRAWING NEARER!!"
I looked at him with displeasure.
"Sora, you've been doing this all day!"
"Doing what?" he said, yawning.
"Being lazy! That's what! Now c'mon! We are going to be late for the Winter Frost
Dance!"
Sora scratched his head.
"Isn't that tonight?"
"Yes! Yes it is! Why don't you go and get me that rake and make yourself useful!
Step on it Sora!"
Sora didn't stir.
"SORA!!!!" I yelled.
"Isn't it still morning Kairi?"
"Yes it is and we best hurry—"
"And you did say it was tonight?"
"Actually you said that it was tonight but still, yes it is to—".
I paused with awkwardness. He smiled at me and handed me the rake.
"I guess there is no need to rush, right Kairi?"
I smiled. There was a beautiful tone in his voice.
"Uh, I guess so."
I, never in my life had ever been so nervous to talk to him.
Each time I had raked, I always had this feeling that he was looking at me. It wasn't
frightening, it was just, you know, weird. It wasn't just the same old look your best
friend gives you. It was the look of love. It was a bit queer to me, but then the
connection of him staring at me broke. I dropped the rake while catching him staring
at me. It was so alarming and new to me.
Sora picked up the rake for me.
"Thanks," I said, and reached for the rake.
All of a sudden he commented on me,
"You're beautiful".
And then he leaned in to kiss me.
That was so romantic! I was so shocked, that I couldn't breathe. It was so . . .
strange. Kissing your own best friend?!?!!! EWWWWWW! But this was totally and
absolutely different. I knew that Sora liked me but. . . . . do I like him?
The words lingered through my mind, but once I felt warm hands wrap around my
waist, I was so into the kiss. I abandoned the thoughts. But then it broke our kiss when we heard the rustles in the bushes. We immediately stopped kissing when
Riku came out with a stange looking boy about our age.
I never did know that he was a killer.
