CHAPTER V

CIRCLE OF FOURTHS

ARCAIDA BASE- NEW ZEALAND

"Get Heinz out of there and go". Those orders stuck in Tenneth A. Jung's head since he first heard them a few hours ago. Once someone noticed that Heinz Baer was gone, he was sent to go to the location computers. After the Federation fell, the Rebels put tracking devices in each other, so they could be found. A member of the rebellion could not afford to die, for there were so few. Many thought it was stupid since more would probably die than be saved, but it was also a good chance to have a hit and run assault on one of Zeon's largest bases. So once those orders were announced, Tenneth grabbed his team, his RGM-79SC, and left for Arcadia as soon as possible.

The mission didn't seem that hard at first, but once they arrived there, the mission got tough. Tenneth expected there to be a couple dozes Zakus patrolling the base, but there were a couple dozen Zaku Cannons, plus a few Dopps to add to the mess. Tenneth then laid out his strategy, with was to distract the enemy with a barrage of FF-6 Tin Cods and Depp Rogs while the snipers hid behind buildings and shot the Zakus in the head. Meanwhile, a Gunperry would land in the area where Heinz was located, have several troops deploy inside the building, get Heinz out, load him into the Gunperry, and get out.

This sounded easy enough, but once they hid behind the buildings, a Magella Attack Tank saw them and alerted the whole city, which was now shooting at the buildings in which the snipers hid. Several snipers fell, and since the Zaku Cannons got close to their position, the Depp Rogs bombed too close to the snipers and the smoke clogged their vision. Tenneth didn't have much faith in the team as many of them died by the minute. But constant reports from the Gunperry on how they easily slipped past the enemy so fast and efficiently gave Tenneth a lot of hope, the hope that would save the Federation.

Gary Rogers hated the fact that he was piloting a Gunperry while most of the other pilots he was acquainted with were dying and fighting for a cause that many thought was worthless. He was an expert at using hit and run tactics with GMs, especially the GM Light Armor, which he helped make famous. But Tenneth ordered him to pilot the Gunperry that would rescue Heinz, and Gary was a very by the book type of person, so he followed the orders. These orders were very hard, though, as he saw the others give their life so that he could fly smoothly around the damned city, rescuing an ace pilot that seemed to not be that important.

"Sir", said one of the soldiers ridding in the Gunperry. "That's the building over there".

"Oh," said Gary as he landed the plane. Once the plane landed, all thirty soldiers in the plane ran out of it and stormed the building in which Heinz was supposedly located. Also, a couple Type 61 tanks came out of the Gunperry and guarded it, making sure none could hurt the plane. Gary then stared into the building, wondering what a crazy time the soldiers must've been having in there.

"It's too damn quiet", said one of the soldiers as he walked inside.

"It won't be if you don't shut up", said Colonel Greg Polanski, who led his battalion into the building. As his comrade had said, the building was extremely quiet and no living life forms were detected. Greg knew that this would be a trap- whenever something is too quiet it's always a trap. Either that, or the Zeons just chickened out and decided to hide in a bomb shelter.

"Sir", said one of the soldiers. "I found a map". Greg then walked up to the wall and saw that his soldier told the truth, as there was a touch- screen map in front of them.

"Look", said another soldier. "It shows where everyone is. See the red dots? Those are any human life form in this particular section of this building. All of them are in this corner, which is the bomb shelter."

"But right there", said one of their companions, "are two red dots all alone".

"It must be Heinz", said Greg. "Let's get moving..."

"Sir", said a soldier. "There are about 20 red dots moving towards the two lone red dots."

"Oh shit", said Greg. "We have company. Lock, load, and follow me!" The soldiers then loaded their guns and followed Greg to where the two red dots were located, where death and sorrow would also occur that day.

Once Heinz and Francis felt the building rock, they braced themselves against a wall until the shaking stopped. Heinz knew that they were here for him, because of that chip in his brain, and that it wasn't going to be easy to get out.

"They're here for me", said Heinz. "If you want to help me, you must help now."

"How?" asked Francis.

"Tell me how we can get out of here!" yelled Heinz.

"The soldiers are going to get out of wherever they are and get to their mobile suits", said Francis. Nearly on cue to Francis's comment, the door to every single room in the building opened and dozens of Zeon soldiers stormed out to run to their Mobile Suit. Heinz and Francis were just two people in a huge mass of humanity, so they went perfectly unnoticed. Once everyone left, the two hid in a janitor's closet and talked real slowly.

"Since they are gone now", said Francis, "we can easily make our escape. They always assign a couple dozen guards, but that's to the front entrance. No one is close to the back, for the shelter is way down below us. Here." Francis then tossed Heinz a couple of pistols and grabbed a couple for himself. "That should take care of any unwanted guests".

"So I we just zoom off now?" asked Heinz.

"No", said Francis. "This building echoes. You will follow me real slowly on my signal". Francis then put his ear to the door to hear if anything might just be near them. Since he heard nothing, he gave a hand motion to Heinz and the two burst out of the door. Francis then jogged real quietly, and Heinz followed his every move. They did that for two minutes as they reached closer and closer to the end, but they then heard a real loud shriek that was extremely close to them. Francis then looked down and realized he stepped on a mouse.

"Oh sheiza", cursed Francis as he realized what he had done. Several footsteps where then heard as Francis and Heinz hid behind the nearest wall. About twenty soldiers then came into their path, all armed with state- of-the-art machine guns and a brain made out of solid concrete.

"We are outnumbered ten to one", said Heinz. "There's no hope that we can survive".

"Yeah there is", said Francis. "Look". He then pointed to a touch screen map, which showed that thirty bodies were moving towards the soldiers.

"I have an idea", said Heinz. "We'll drive them towards the back door so that when the soldiers attack, we can easily run out to whatever transport they have waiting for us and we can be safe".

"Yeah", said Francis. "Let's just get this over with". The two then pulled out their twin pistols and started shooting from behind the wall. Once they got their attention, the Zeon soldiers started shooting at the wall with their machine guns, blowing holes the size of bowling balls into the walls. Once the soldiers used up more than half of their ammo, the two made a mad dash towards the back door. Several bullets zinged passed their heads, but there was a large rumble, which ended the onslaught. The two turned around and saw the thirty Rebel troops combating the Zeon troops. Four soldiers managed to grab Heinz and Francis and stuck a needle in their neck. The needle instantly put them to sleep, which would be a nice, long, relaxing one.
