"My feet hurt, I should never have picked these shoes" Beck complained as she practically fell into one of the chairs that were around the table that the other ducks were at. "I only wore them because my date is so freakishly tall" Beck glared playfully at Fulton.
Fulton smiled at her, she was always telling him that he was two tall, he would always just reply that he was not to tall, she was just to short. That never really went over that well, and the argument would usually be ended with them play fighting until some one made the first move and kissed the other. And as much as he usually loved their little arguments and their consequential make out sessions, he was sure this was neither the time of the place for that to happen. As much as he would love to blow off the prom to spend some time alone with Rebecca. "Would you like something to drink?"
Beck nodded. Fulton kissed her cheek and disappeared to the refreshments table. She sighed as she watched him go. As much as she didn't want to think about it, her mind was on the conversation that she had had earlier with the girls. Would she want to have sex with Fulton before she went away to school? Would he want to have sex with her?
They had been taking the relationship as slow as they could, in fears that either of them would do something to change what they had. And what they had was amazing. It was intense. It was more then just a relationship, they understood each other on so many levels. Julie had jokingly said once that the two of them were soul mates, and as much as Beck had laughed along with the others, she could not help but wonder if it was true. She had never believed in soul mates, but this relationship was more then she had ever had with anyone.
Fult and Beck spoke about the future a lot. Mainly it revolved around them moving to New York together, getting an apartment and living happily ever after, but that had all been blown out of the water when he had not been accepted. They had not spoken about it since, but she knew that no matter where they were, If she was in New York and he shipped himself off to Australia, they would survive it.
But the question of having sex. It would either make their relationship stronger, or make it so much weaker. It was possible that what they had could not get stronger then what it already was. Or, this could solidify it, make it more.
But she was to ashamed to breach the subject. How do you tell a boy that you want to sleep with him before you move away the next week? It couldn't just be a matter of "Come on Fulton, lets do it" it would have to be planned, and decisions would have to be made. She could not just make the decision for the two of them to sleep together, they would have to talk about it.
Maybe Fulton didn't want to. There had been times, when they had found themselves in a quiet dorm room when they had given themselves a break from talking, and had kissed. Even their kissing had this intense feeling, it could escalate at any time, but he had always stopped them. Or she had stopped them. But either way they had stopped.
At the punchbowl, Fulton stood, just watching Beck as she sat, and smiled and occasionally spoke to others. He wondered what it was he had done to deserve a girl like that. Maybe he was like, the pope in a past life or something. Well, he would have had to have done something right. Either that, or the gods were just smiling on him.
"Hey Fult!" A voice said from beside him, and Fulton smiled at his new companion. Joanna Portman, or Deanie, to all that mattered. One of his best friends, and his honorary little sister. "Having fun?"
"Sure" Fulton replied. "Are you?"
"Of course. Adam is so wonderful…he is…" Joanna paused and looked at him, obviously wondering if she could trust Fulton, or if he would just find the first opportunity to go and tell Dean what he had found out. "Why doesn't Dean like Adam?"
"Dean likes Adam, he just doesn't like the fact you like him, or that he likes you" Fulton replied. Dean was known for the overprotection of his little sister.
"But, you like Adam right?" Joanna asked Fulton. "And you like the fact that he likes me"
"Don't tell Dean I told you this, but I think that he is taking the whole overprotected thing way to far" Fulton replied quietly, handing Joanna a cup of punch.
"Could you tell him that you think of it that way?" Joanna asked him suddenly, an idea entering her head. "He trusts your judgement, tell him that Adam is better for me than anyone else"
"I will see what I can do" Fulton smiled, and then Adam approached, smiled at him, and dragged her off again. Fulton shook his head, who would have thought that the quiet, rich boy cake eater would want to date the loud mouthed, sometimes obnoxious sister of a boy who on more then one occasion had tried to beat him up. Sometimes, even his team mates were full of surprises.
"What was that about?" Dean asked, scaring the shit out of him and making him jump a foot in the air, at least. When had he showed up? And when had he learnt to walk so quietly? "You playing double agent for my sister now?"
"Not double agent" Fulton replied. He would have to tread carefully, just because they were friends who were practically brothers to each other, it did not mean that Dean would not punch him if he had a good enough reason to. "Just talking. You know, you should be proud…"
"I know, I should be proud that Joanna has the love an attention of a boy like Adam, because he is kind, sweet, talented…blah, blah, blah." Dean sighed and filled the two cups that he was holding from the punch bowl in front of him. "I have been given the lecture, from three people already, so I know"
"Well"
"Well what?" Dean asked his friend "It is true. He is a good guy, and he would treat her right, I just…he is a team mate Fult. He is Banksie. I don't want my little sister to one day be Mrs. Adam Banks, it would be to weird. Could you imagine that? Could you imagine the wedding? His uncle the duke of some hootie tootie country sitting beside my crazy uncle Will who thinks that god lives in the piece of gum that is on the bottom of his left shoe."
"Portman, man, calm down, they are on their first date" Fulton replied, slapping him on the back. Dean sighed.
"Yeah, but look at how much fun that she is having" Dean replied, and the two of them looked across the room to where Joanna and Adam were dancing. They looked to be the quintessential happy couple, dancing to some random slow song and whispering and giggling. Fulton had to admit that Dean had a point, from the way they were acting, it was easy to see how they two of them could have a future, but he still thought that marrying them off at this point in the relationship was a little crazy. "She looks really happy"
"So stop being such a jerk about it and let the two of them date." Fulton replied, filling up the punch glass that he went to the table for in the first place. Dean shrugged, took one last glance at Adam and his sister, and then moved to the other side of the room to where Julie was sitting with Beck
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"We are going to get more punch" Beck and Julie smiled brightly as they stood and made their way across the room. Beck staggered slightly, and Julie caught her, giggling.
"Do they look ok to you" Dean asked as he watched them cross to the refreshments table. Beck took a glass full of punch, downed it, and then took another before handing the ladle to Julie who did the same.
"Must be great punch" Fulton shrugged. It was odd behaviour, but he had no explanation for it.
Suddenly, the chair on the other side of table was pulled out, and a pale looking Audrey sat down. Luis helped her sit, then took off his jacket, and draped it over her shoulders.
"What's up?" Fulton asked, concerned. Luis, who was staring at Audrey in concern, stroked the back of her hair.
"She isn't feeling to well. I am going to take her back to the dorms" Luis replied, helping her stand. "We seem to think that some one spiked the punch"
"oh" Dean replied, smiling softly at the sick girl "I hope you feel better Audrey."
The boys watched as Luis gently pulled the girl out of her seat, and then wrapped an steadying hand around Luis, who smiled and returned the embrace. They watched as they opened the door, exited, and closed the door behind them.
"Shit" Fulton yelled suddenly. "He just said that the punch was spiked"
Dean immediately understood. "And our girls have been drinking it all night"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Sweet home Alabama" Julie bellowed loudly and off tune as Dean escorted her back to her bedroom. It had been hard to get the girls to leave the prom without making to much of a scene, but they had done it, and now, they were taking the girls back to where they could sleep it off.
"No, Julie, you are singing it wrong" Beck informed her as they continued down the hall. "It should be 'Sweet home Minnesota' "
"But I am not from Minnesota" Julie replied, hoping that he logic would make sense. Beck grinned at her and poked her on the cheek.
"You are not from Alabama either" she replied. Julie sighed, that was true, dang, she was smart.
"Fine" Julie replied. "Sweet home Bangor Maine…where the skies are so blue"
"That doesn't rhyme babe" Dean told her.
"I will make it rhyme" she told him. Then suddenly a thought dawned on her. "And don't call me babe, I don't like it when you call me babe, I have never liked it when you call me babe"
"Ok Julie, I am sorry" Dean sighed. He had one of her arms draped over his shoulder and he was practically carrying her down the hall. Fulton, on the other hand, was letting Beck walk, but standing behind her and resting his hands on her hips so that she would not fall over. A few times she had shrugged out of his grasp and then glared at him when he had reached for her again.
"Who has a room key?" Dean asked as they stopped in front of the dorm room. He placed Julie so that she was leaning against the wall, but seconds later she was in a heap on the floor.
"Beck does" Julie giggled, looking up at them.
"Julie does" Beck replied, once again stepping away from Fulton and glaring at him. Fulton was shocked. Why was she glaring?
"Ok then" Dean sighed, reaching into his back pocket and removing his wallet. He flipped it open, pulled out a phone card, and slid it into the gap. He jiggled it around, and then smiled when the door popped open.
"You told me that you would teach me that and you haven't yet" Julie pouted at her boyfriend, who picked her up and carried her into the room.
"Oh, you carried me over the threshold" Julie sighed into his arms. "Did we get married?"
"No sweetheart, we didn't get married" Dean sighed, throwing her gently onto the bed.
"To bad" Julie giggled. Fulton led Beck into the room, and she pulled away from him, turned and pushed his chest.
"What was that for?" Fulton asked when he got over the surprise of being assaulted by his girlfriend
"You don't want to have sex with me!" she replied firmly, and then pushed his chest again. Fulton stood, unable to move. What? Where on earth did that come from?
"Oh Fulton" Julie began from the other side of the room. "Do you suffer from erectile dysfunction? Do you have troubles gaining or maintaining a satisfactory erection? If so, this drug is for you. For just a hundred and ninety nine ninety five…"
Fulton didn't know what to say. First, his own girlfriend had accused him of not wanting to have sex. And second, Julie was yabbering on about dysfunction. To set the record straight, he did want to have sex with Beck, and he had no troubles with … well, little Fulton, thank you very much!
"…Dean doesn't have any trouble with gaining or maintaining an erection, do you Dean?" Julie announced, and Dean turned bright red. There were just some things that you don't talk about it public, and even though this public was like family to him, there were things that they just didn't need to know. "Like that time when we were hiding in that shower, you had no problems gaining or…"
"That's enough Jules" Dean warned, holding his hand over her mouth. Julie bit his hand, which was then quickly retracted, but thankfully, she did not continue her story.
Beck was laying on her bed, facing the wall so that Fulton could not see her. He sat, stroking her shoulder, he whispered softly. "Beck, why don't you think I want to have … sleep with you?"
"Because you didn't rent a room at the Hilton" she replied, speaking mainly to the wall.
Fulton was confused, and he had to remind himself that she was drunk, and that was why she was making no sense. "Should I have?"
"Oh god no" she replied. "But you should have asked if I wanted to get a room with you"
"Well, I know for the future, don't I?" he asked, stroking her back. He was trying to take it all with a grain of salt because he had no idea, really, what on earth she was talking about, but somewhere in her liquor meddled mind, she had a point that she was trying to make. "Beck, I do want to…with you"
"Then stay the night!" she smiled brightly, turning to him and trying to kiss him. Her puckered lips missed his completely, landing on his cheek. Fulton held her back.
"Rebecca, you are drunk" he reminded her. Beck shrugged.
"Lousy excuse, if you ask me" she whispered, and the collapsed back onto the bed, trying to look seductive, but failing miserably. She smiled and whispered to him in an interesting, unexplainable tone. "You don't want to have sex?"
"Not tonight." Fult replied, trying to get it through to her. Taking her arm, he pulled her up so that she was standing. He would have to just settle for helping her wash her face, change out of her gown, and then making her get some sleep, which she honestly needed. "And you don't either."
"How the fuck would you know if I want to have sex or not. If you had of just been a normal horny teenager and tried to get a leg over months ago, we never would have been in this mess, and I wouldn't be moving away, and you wouldn't be a virgin, and we wouldn't be not having sex right now. And…." Beck said. Fulton sighed, and put a hand over her mouth, stopping her from continuing.
"Are you sleepy?"
Rebecca let out a huge yawn. She didn't realize that she was tired until he had said so. But since he had, Beck's eyelids were getting heavier.
"Julie, are you tired?" Fulton asked Julie, who was on her bed on the other side of the room.
"No, not really" Julie smiled to herself. Fulton cursed inwardly, Usually if you suggested to a drunk person, the thought would then be planted into their mind, but it obviously didn't work with Jules. "Much rather talk about sex to be quite honest. Did you know that I want to be a virgin till I marry. That's right Dean, you are dating a girl who is not going to put out…"
"I know that darling, and I don't mind" Dean told her truthfully. "Just gives me a reason to marry you"
"Oh no you don't buster" Julie replied, struggling to sit up and then poking him in the shoulder. "Don't you dare think that you are just going to marry be straight out of high school. I want to get an education before I even think of having a family. I have a 5 year plan" Julie informed Dean.
"Am I involved?"
"You have a cameo, but you are not that important" Julie replied. Dean's jaw dropped in fake offence. One the other side of the room, Fulton was helping Rebecca out of her beautiful gown and into something comfortable to sleep in.
"So no sex till marriage, but no marriage till after college." Dean clarified, and Julie nodded. Dean leant in and kissed her. "I can deal with that"
It amazed him that what he was saying was true. He could wait that long for Julie to be ready if that was what she wanted. He knew that it would be unlikely that she would even wait that long before having sex, but if she did stick by it, he would stick by her.
"There we go Beck, that's a good girl, into bed with you" Fulton smiled as he helped her into her bed and then pulled the covers up around her. Julie and Beck would be so hung over in the morning, and he was caught some where between thinking it was funny and wishing that he could trade places with Beck so that he could have her headache.
Dean pulled Julie, who was now telling him how many children they would have, and what their names would be, to her feet and into the bathroom to help her change. When they exited, Dean was carrying Jules, who must have passed out.
Fulton, who was stroking the hair of his sleeping girlfriend, stood, and made his way to the door.
"Tomorrow will be a lot of fun…"

Dean pulled Julie, who was now telling him how many children they would have, and what their names would be, to her feet and into the bathroom to help her change. When they exited, Dean was carrying Jules, who must have passed out.
Fulton, who was stroking the hair of his sleeping girlfriend, stood, and made his way to the door.
"Tomorrow will be a lot of fun…"
