Inu Yasha No Yume

Chapter 6 - Naraku

She was all alone. A wisp of moonlight peeked through the blinds and landed diagonally across Yume's face. Something was very wrong and she was stuck here. The scent of Youkai filled the air, sounds of the fight and soldiers running randomly around was near, and Inu Yasha's fighting scent lingered in her nose.
The moonlight disappeared from her cheek for a moment, calling her attention. Slowly, she stood and reached for her katana that sat near by. Cautiously she pressed her back to the wall under the window. Slowly she peeked through the shades, only darkness was in view.
Working quickly and quietly she popped the blinds off of the windowsill. Stealthily she climbed onto the windowsill; making sure her katana was tied tightly to her and loose in its scabbard. She reached for the shingles on the roof. Careful not to pull the end shingle off, she pulled herself to the roof.
Immediately as she landed her feet gently on the rounded shingles a Youkai head flew over her. She crouched low, clutching her katana and skittered up the slanted roof. To her left was a larger part of the building, so she scooted up against the wall and continued up until she was at the roof's peak. To her right was a part of the building that was perpendicular to the part she was on and even taller than the section to her left.
She past the roof's peak and continued in a crouched position down the roof. Careful to be seen by neither friend nor foe, she drew her blade and hid in the shadows of the second tallest part of the building.
A swarm of Youkai was attacking from the southwestern edge of the castle. The courtyard was littered with the dead.
In the northwestern corner of the court below Kagome was shooting arrows; over the western wall Sango and Miroku rode Kirara through the swarm, slaying all that came close (at the hands of Miroku and Kirara) and even those farther away with Sango's Hiraikotsu bone boomerang.
Inu Yasha held his own with a giant sword that had once been a rusted, old blade. The racket being created by each of his devastating blows numbed Yume's ears. Each swing he made took out at least 70 Youkai. Yet they still kept coming.
Suddenly, the noise quieted and became nonexistent. The Youkai shifted uneasily as did the humans. Kirara now perched on the highest building, ready to strike. Yume held her breath.
The Youkai began to part. The reason was a man and a boy. Both looked cold and uncaring as they walked towards Inu Yasha. The boy stepped between the man and where Kagome was. Kagome lowered her bow, clearly unwilling to hit this boy.
Naraku sauntered up to Inu Yasha. In a flash, Yume remembered her vision as Naraku held out his hand. Kagome cried out.
"Inu Yasha! Look out!"
A bolt of bright blue lightening struck from above, sending dust flying in a yellow-brown cloud. Thunder clapped and the dust blew away, rendering Inu Yasha unconscious.
"Dammit!" She cursed slightly louder than she had intended and immediately slapped her hand over her mouth.
100 pairs of eyes looked up at her and she was no longer safely hidden in the shadows. Only Kohaku's eyes stayed on Kagome, but everyone else watched her. Her eyes locked with Naraku's, making her shiver as he smiled cruelly. The air in front of him shimmered and he was gone.
The Youkai surged forward and everyone's attention was once again focused on the battle at hand. Everyone went to protect Inu Yasha. Yume rose slightly, ready to jump and help when another shimmer of the air caught her attention at the northeastern corner of the courtyard. Naraku slipped around the corner and along the gap between the third highest building and the southern wall.
Yume stood and jumped directly up with her powerful legs. She landed on the second tallest building that was 20 feet taller than the building she had been on. Swiftly, she moved to the side of the roof that slanted away from the courtyard.
Running as fast as she could, she crossed over the peak when she was fully out of sight of the courtyard. Down the other side led to the third highest building, 10 feet down from where she was. In a graceful leap she landed midway between where the fourth highest building ran perpendicular into the third.
She made another incredible jump and landed in the shadow of the third building that was cast on the fourth. Her feet landed softly and as she stood from a crouch a young man came into her vision.
