Inu Yasha No Yume

Chapter 8 - Rescue

Inu Yasha groaned and pushed himself up onto his elbows. There was shouting behind him as well as other noises. Looking to his right he saw Tettsusaiga winking in the moonlight.
He reached for it and the blade became a fang. Standing on wobbly legs he looked around. Sango, Miroku, Shippou, Kirara, and Kagome formed a protective circle around him.
Naraku was gone and the Youkai just kept coming. "Everybody! Move!" He shouted over the drone.
Knowing what he planned to do everyone made for the safety of Inu Yasha's back. Once everyone was clear he made his move.
"Kaze no Kizu!" Wound of the Wind He yelled, dropping his blade heavily at the approaching Youkai.
Immediately, he slashed again. "Kaze no Kizu!" And a third time, getting the last of the attacking Youkai. "Kaze no Kizu!"
In a breath, the Youkai disappeared completely. Kagome squeezed his shoulder affectionately. "That never ceases to amaze me," She smiled.
He smiled distantly and turned to look at the roof, he starred long and hard. "Where is she?" He finally asked, breaking the strange silence.
"She was there when Naraku disppear..." Sango gasped. "Oh no!" Everyone scanned the courtyard rapidly for any sign of her; to no avail.
"Yume!" Kagome screamed at the top of her longs, obviously stressed. "Yume! Where are you?!"
Sango whistled for Kirara. "I'll take the Youkai's path to the southwestern wall!" She announced and jumped onto Kirara.
"We'll check to the north of the castle!" Miroku grabbed Kagome's arm and they ran into the building.
"Shippou! Look inside! Leave nothing unchecked!" Inu Yasha yelled as he jumped up onto the roof of the second highest building, "I'll take the East!"

Yume looked up. Something was coming closer. She pulled her yukata shut, forgetting to tie it and unsure of what else to do other than stay motionless in the shadows. She felt weak and helpless as she waited in fear for the new threat.
Tears weld up in her eyes in addition to the blood from her lower lip and left cheek, where the skin was violently broken open. She took a deep breath and held as the sound of feet stopped with whoever's jump from rooftop to rooftop. She dared not pull her legs in as the person landed not 20 feet from her.

Inu Yasha ran to the southwestern corner of the roof and looked down. Keeping his eyes down he ran to the northwestern corner scanning the bushes below; all the time his hand was on the hilt of Tettsusaiga.
"YUME!" He called. "Where are you?!"
"Inu Yasha?" A barely audible voice carried to his keen ears.
He turned and was looking right at the dark form in the shadows. "Yume?" He asked in his gruff voice. "Is that you?" He drew closer.
"It's me..." Her voice was pleading.
"What is it?" As he came into sight of her he knew something was more than terribly wrong.
She was leaning against the wall, her hair and robes disheveled. The split on her lip, the cut on her cheek, and various other cuts and bruises showed a brutal struggle. As he came closer, she drew her legs up, making sure she was well covered. The amount of raw terror in her eyes worried him, especially since it was partially aimed at him.
"What's wrong, Yume?" He spoke so softly it spooked Yume and she cringed. "What happened?" He went to touch her shoulder and she slapped his hand back.
"STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!" She screamed, puling farther away.
He withdrew his hand and stepped back, unsure of what to do or how to react. He'd never had any experience in such a situation and couldn't deal with it any way he normally would. He was blind to her now and couldn't fight it out like usual. "What do you want me to do?" He asked quietly.
"The lake to the South. I saw it on the way here," She stood and walked slowly, shakily towards him. "Take me there?"
He held out his hand and she took it. She gave a squeeze and gently held onto his shoulders. In one tremendous leap, they were air born.
Yume held on to his shoulders rather than his waist as she had earlier that day. Underneath, trees flew by faster than before.
They landed and Yume let go, circling around Inu Yasha in the same instant. Forgetting everything else, she walked swiftly for the water; shedding her robe as she did so.
She waded out into the water, ignoring the icy chill it brought to her legs and wanting nothing more than to rid her body of his touch. Cold water cooled the burn of her wounds, but his hands remained. She began to rub herself with her palms, trying unsuccessfully to scrub him from her.
Reaching down to underneath her feet she pulled up a handful of sand and rubbed it on her body, tearing open the wounds and scratching her fragile flesh. She scrubbed harder; still not banishing the feel of his hands from her.
Her heart raced and she screamed her frustration, bringing forth tears of rage and hatred. "STOP!!!" She screamed out what she had been unable to before. "STOP IT!!!"
Arms grabbed her around her middle and chest, dragging her from the water. She fought to keep whoever it was away, but he was far stronger than her in her weakened state.
"Let me GO!!!" She demanded, "STOP! DON'T TOUCH ME!!!"
Something warm and dry was wrapped around her as she was set gently on the ground. Feeling reentered her body and she felt cold, wet, and sore.
"I'll start a fire," Inu Yasha whispered, leaving her there.
Yume hugged her knees to her chest and burying her face, trying to hide the shame that overwhelmed her. Something hit her from behind. She looked and saw her yukata lying near her bottom. Shocked, she saw that not only was Inu Yasha not wearing his over shirt, but also it was on her.
"Put that on," He called over his shoulder. "You need to warm up,"
More tears flowed from her now pale green eyes. A lump came in her throat and she swallowed it as best she could. "Thank you..." She whispered, unsure of whether he'd heard her.
