Two hours later we were at the front desk buying four plane tickets to northern Italy near the Alps.
"Tim, listen carefully now, which end of the Alps? Is it the Italy side or in France?" My dad asked
"Italy, definitely, when we're nearby, I'll know where, I've seen my dad scry the area."
Luckily for us a plane for where we needed to go was available but we had an hour so we quickly made our way through departures to the gates.
"Well that was a coincidence," I snorted
My dad placed his hand gently on my shoulder, "There are no coincidences," he said in a low voice.
I knew what he was thinking, it was fate, he was destined to find mom, stop whoever took her and bring her home, it just still seemed to easy.
"What if we're walking right into a trap" I said
"We will be" Tim said, "That guy, I never caught his name, he will be expecting us all, he wigs me out. . . those eyes, freaking scary I tell you it's like looking at a guy who hasn't slept in 20 years, he's tripped out seriously wired and crazy"
The things Tim said sent shivers down my spine, who was this guy? Why was he doing this to us? Why did he take my mother away from me and my dad?
The next few hours were a blur, I didn't really pay any attention to anything except the thoughts encircling my mind, all the what ifs, but the next day we had landed safely in northern Italy, which, was freezing since we were so near to the mountains.
"We gotta go up there, I need her back now" my dad said,
"No, Hunter, not now, we all need rest I want her back just as much as you do, but who knows who or what we'll be facing up there we need to get our strength, we'll rent a lodge or something in that nearby ski resort and we'll go in the morning," Sky told him,
It was about 4 in the morning as it is I knew she was right, but my dad on the other hand looked as if he was about to protest but then sighed and gave up, he must be really anxious to get up there and get her back, not like I couldn't blame him anyway, I want her back too but Sky was right, I'm beat.
"Tomorrow when we're all feeling better, I promise, we can't leave her up there with that. . . bastard, whoever he is"
"Okay, but tomorrow, we'll rent a helicopter and we're going up there"
A helicopter? I thought, whoa that was going to cost a fortune, "Do you know how to drive on of those?" I asked
My father nodded, "I use them to get around for the New Charter, but in emergencies only, like when somebody has tracked down a dark witch and he needs bringing in urgently, stuff like that"
I nodded, I was learning more and more about my parents, a lot of it frightened me, but a lot of it made me proud of them, they were good, important witches that have done a lot for the world of Wicca, my mother has been out of the game for a while, but something tells me that when we get her back, the Wiccan world will change, for the better.
"How much?" my dad asked the helicopter pilot the next day, we had found a base near the resort and my dad was pleading with the pilot to let us hire it, unfortunately he didn't speak a lot of English.
"How long for?" the pilot asked
"The whole day!" my dad said gesturing with his hands
"No, no buy helicopter" he replied furrowing his brows growing confused,
My dad shook his head and held out 3 hundred euros, "I'll bring it back at 5!" he said pointing at his watch
The man looked at the helicopter then at the money in my dads hands and then finally at my dad, then said, "can you drive?"
My dad nodded and whipped a piece of paper from his wallet, which was his license to work and operate a helicopter, the man nodded and handed him some weird looking key which I was guessing was to start it, in return my dad handed him the money.
"Back – 5" the man said point at his watch
"Yes! 5! Thank you!"
We all put on those ear guards and climbed into the helicopter.
"Okay Tim, its all you now!" my dad said when we approached the snow covered mountains, "Do you know where?"
Tim looked around but then I guess we didn't need his help, we were all hit with sudden nerves that were screaming at us to turn back, this mission was hopeless, I thought.
"Lets, go back. . . there's no point what if she's already dead already and this was some trick to get us there to die too," I said
"No Moira" my father said, "I know deep down she's alive and she's near, I can feel her, she's close,"
Sky squeezed my hand gently then released it.
"It's just an illusion spell, try to ignore it sweetie" Sky said
"Oh goddess," Hunter gasped as he clutched his chest, Sky quickly thinking grabbed the steering stick before we plummeted into the rocks below and quickly stuck it on auto pilot.
"Dad? What's wrong? Are you okay? Dad?" he removed his hand and it was covered in blood
"Oh GOD!" I cried, "What's happening to him!"
"My heart. . ." he panted, "It's bleeding, oh, Morgan,"
I felt tears roll down my cheeks, "What does that mean? Are you sick?"
Sky shook her head, "No, you ma is close Moira, calm down, he'll be okay, you're mother was part of him, of his soul she's been dead to him for so long that now he's closer to her and knows for certain she's alive. . ."
Reluctantly I sank back down in my seat, which was then the fears of this mission came rushing back to me only this time, it was no spell.
"There!" Tim cried pointing down at the rocks below, we saw a huge opening in the side of one mountain, "Down there!" he repeated.
Nodding dad lowered the helicopter and landed on a large space of icy rock that was just outside the cave, it looked like a proper makeshift chopper landing zone, it looks as if the guy who stole my mother away from me had used it to get up here, I thought angrily.
Silently we all climbed out of the helicopter seriously unprepared for the cold wind beating weather, we had not thought this through properly, we all went into the cave where there were many tunnels and other caves leading from it, the shelter didn't really prevent the cold, but at least the wind wasn't attacking us anymore.
"This place looks like a maze," Sky cried,
"We'll never find her" I said, glancing a hopeful look at Tim who looked as hopeless as the rest of us.
"Don't you know where we're supposed to go?" I asked him
He shook his head, "I'm sorry Moira, I didn't recall all these tunnels, I think the scrying vision skipped them to be misleading and cruel, my father scrys with water,"
"It doesn't matter" We all turned to face my father, "I can feel her"
I wondered why the rest of us didn't, "She's been hidden from magick, but what your mum and I have, it's more than magick, it's half of my soul, I know where to go, follow me"
We all followed him as he walked through the twisting tunnels.
Soon we came to one tunnel that was right in front of us, I noticed my dad fighting back tears, "She's in there"
