This is my first fic so bear with me. I owe thanks to Death Goddess Assassin (my cousin and one of the best authors ever) because she not only came up with the idea of this story, but also introduced me to fan fiction altogether.
Disclaimer: I own no TP characters.
Chapter One: The Potion
Raoul of Goldenlake and Malorie's Peak and Numair Salmalin smirked at each other as Numair carefully poured drops of a seaweed-green liquid in Alanna, Daine, and Kel's goblets-one drop for every year. It was all Raoul could do to keep from letting a laugh escape and ruin their plan.
Baron George, Alanna's husband, and Domitan of Masbolle, Kel's betrothed, knew what they were going to do, and they thought it was a brilliant plan.
It had been Dom's idea really, actually more of a dare than an idea. And he did not think that the two would go through with it; but here they were, about to sentence themselves to their own deaths once the three women are turned back.
"Finished," Numair murmured. Raoul took Kel and Alanna their goblets. Numair brought Daine hers.
"Thanks," Kel said, smiling warmly at her former knight-master. It made Raoul feel almost guilty about what they were doing.
"Hurry up, you oaf, give me mine," Alanna demanded.
Guilty thought gone.
"Drink up, my precious," Dom muttered under his breath. Kel, sitting beside him, gave him an odd look, then raised the goblet to her mouth. Daine and Alanna did the same.
"This tastes disgusting," Kel said, wrinkling her delicate nose. "What did you do, poison us?"
Nervously the three men laughed.
"No, of course not," Numair said, a stiff smile plastered to his face. "Why would you think a thing like that?"
"Are you okay?" Daine asked, peering closely at her husband. "You look.strange." She blinked. "Kel? When was your hair so long?"
"What do you mean?" Kel asked in confusion. She touched a strand of her brown hair-which, for some reason, was not only very long, but also curlier than Daine's hair. She squeaked. "What's going on?"
"Is it just me or are we shrinking?" Alanna asked suddenly. Her hair, too, was getting longer than its normal shoulder length.
"Our voices sound all squeaky," Daine said. Their forms were rapidly becoming more brittle and childlike.
"Raoul! Numair! You did something to us, didn't you?!" Alanna shouted. She was currently un-growing to about half her size.
"Who, us?" Raoul asked innocently. "Yeah."
"What did you do?" Kel wailed. Scars were disappearing from her body. Her clothes were getting much too big for her. To Dom's amusement, he watched her long, curly hair go from a mouse-brown to a bright, blinding blond.
"We're turning you into your four-year-old selves," George said off-handedly.
"WHAT?!"
"Uh.Guys? We have a problem." Numair said suddenly.
Raoul jerked his head around. "What do you mean, we have a problem?" he asked suspiciously.
"Well. You know how we just wanted to turn our darlings into four-year-old children for laughs?"
"Yeah," Dom said slowly.
"In the process, it seems I added a wrong ingredient and we turned our darlings into four-year-old children.with four-year-old minds."
"What does that mean?" George said, alarmed.
"It means not only will they have no clue that we are their husbands, but also that they will have no recollection of anything-all they know is that they are four. And unfortunately, just like baby birds, the first thing they see will be their parents."
"So.you mean to tell us.that we."
"Are their fathers?!"
"Um.yes."
"This is bad," Dom said, pale. "Go ahead and change them back."
Numair coughed. "I can't do that."
"Why not?" Raoul asked sweetly.
"Because since I thought that they were going to keep their minds, I added certain ingredients in the cure that could kill them when mixed with the one ingredient I added-by mistake-in the potion to turn them into children."
Slowly, the men's eyes turned toward Alanna, Daine, and Kel.
"What are we going to tell everybody else?" Dom asked hoarsely. A thought struck him. "Is this even legal?" he squeaked.
"I don't know!" Raoul cried, distraught. He turned to George. "You're the cunning one! Help!"
"Daddy?" Alanna asked wonderingly.
George fainted.
