"So you'll be over in five minutes?" I said, twirling the phone cord around in my fingers.
"Yep, sure!" Cabby said on the other end of the line. "I wouldn't miss this chance at seeing your new Return of the King posters if my life depended on it."
I giggled.
"Okay, so see you then, I guess," I said, doodling on a piece of paper by the phone.
"See you."
"Bye, Cabs."
I hung up the phone and called out, "Mo-om! Cabby's coming over!"
"Ooh, you mean the infamous Cabby Baggins, the cousin thats over here every day your not over to their house? Have you been on the phone with her for hours again?" Mom said, pretending to grimance.
"No, thats why I invited her over- so we wouldnt be on the phone so long!"
Mom sighed, shaking her head, blonde hair swaying. I'd always found it odd how different she and dad looked. Mom had straight blonde hair, and was rather tall, whereas dad had tightly curled brown hair, and was quite short. Me, I had dark brown hair that used to be curly, but I cut it straight and it never curled back, and was pretty much average hight.
Mom had just opened her mouth when the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" I yelled, running to the door.
"Ooof!"Bang! I tripped up in one of Max's(our dog) toys, and fell flat on my face.
Cabby stepped into the porch, laughing. After her laughter subsided(which took a couple minutes) she reached down to help me up. "No permanent damage?"
"Nothing bruised but my pride" I replied, grinning. "D'you wanna go upstairs to see the posters now?"
"Definatly!"
We ran up the stairs, causing Dad to call out and ask how many elephants were stampeding(although, to our LotR obsessive ears, it sounded more like oliphaunts).
I opened the door to my room with a flourish. The walls were practically wallpapered with LotR posters- and in the little space that had been left last time Cabby had been over(like two days ago) was now occupied by brand-new RotK posters.
"Oh cool!" Exclaimed Carly, staring at the posters. "I have GOT to get that one!"
After Carly finished telling me what ones she had to get(which were all the ones she didnt have yet, although there werent many of them), she said dreamily, "Wouldn't it be cool if we could go to Middle Earth?"
"Don't be silly, Middle Earth isn't a real place!" I said laughingly. "It would be cool if it were though."
But soon I would find out how very wrong I was.
