Disclaimer: I do not own Lord of the Rings, although I wish I did. That would be awesome. But the fact is, I don't, nor am I capable of writing anything near that of the talents of J.R.R Tolkien. Oh, and I don't own Heartache by Tait band. (Although I wouldn't mind having written that song either.)

Samwise Gamgee looked down at his master sleeping on the hard, cold ground. Even when asleep Mr. Frodo looked restless; a desperate little hobbit on the verge of death. Their run with the orcs had nearly done him in. But Sam knew it was more then just their run. The ring was getting heavier and Mr. Frodo was getting weaker; Sam could see it in his eyes. The ring had taken a hold of him.

Half of you has been taken
The other half is barely holding on
You set a course across the ocean
You had a dream but now it's all but lost

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How long had been since they had set out from Rivendell? It felt so long ago and so far away. They had been so young then, so innocent; unaware of the dangers that their task would set before them. Poor Mr. Frodo. After losing Gandalf everything just seemed to get worse for him. And now here they were, wandering slowly towards Mount Doom; Frodo was on his last leg. Hope was slowly fading, even in Sam's heart. It seemed they would never make it home alive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

But I want you to know
I won't let you go
Oh my heart aches for you
Oh my heart breaks for you
Oh my heart bleeds for you
Whatever may come
I'll stand by you.

A single tear rolled down the poor hobbit's cheek. But he had made a promise. 'Don't you leave him someways Gamgee.' And he had no intention of leaving his beloved master all alone; no intention of leaving him alone in the very heart of Mordor.

Who you are is amazing
A precious soul, so beautifully made

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frodo rolled over and opened his eyes.
"How long was I sleeping, Sam?"
"Not too long. Are you ready to head out yet?"
"I think I can. If I don't head out soon, I might lose all will to head out at all."
Sam nodded as he looked at his master with pity shining in his eyes. So brave, his master was. So honorable.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It hurts to see your life fading
Heaven knows every tear you've cried, oh yeah

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so they set out again. Slowly but surely. Every step seemingly causing Frodo more pain.
He couldn't hide the tears from Sam. And yet, he didn't try to. It wouldn't have mattered anyway. They both knew what they were about to do. There was no comfort in the tales of going home for the teary-eyed hobbit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And I want you to know
I'll never let you go

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Please, Mr. Frodo. You look tired. Why don't we stop for a little while?" Sam didn't want his master to wear himself out. The journey was almost at its close, but still the road seemed to go ever on. Leading them closer and closer to Mordor and yet, feeling ever so far away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You are so amazing
Keep the light from fading
You are so amazing

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"No, Sam. We've got to keep going. Just a little bit more."
Sam nodded and trudged on some more. There was one thing he could do for his master. He had to keep the hope alive, or whatever they had left of it. Or try. He had to try.
