A/N: From Sydney's POV.

'A butterfly lands gracefully on a window ledge in a small town in China; minutes later there's an earthquake in another part of the world.'

The insignificance of this butterfly, shows the beauty if nature. One small creature has such an effect on the world and can carry such power. One innocent creature can cause such destruction and misery throughout the world without even knowing it.

Maybe that was what happened to my life. Maybe a butterfly landed elegantly, causing the course of my life to change drastically. Maybe I was the butterfly and a decision I made altered everything. Maybe I was the reaper of the devastation and torment in my life. Maybe I still am.

It's at times like these that you question the effect you have had on the world. Was there a moment that caused great misery to someone else, a misery that could have been prevented? If you could change that one moment in time, would you? Are the consequences worth the pain and heartache of others? Or should some things be left as they are? Is it this choice that defines who we are, or is it a simply a fact of life?

It's the small, insignificant changes that cause the disasters in life. It's the things that you take for granted; the things that you don't realise have changed until it's too late. Few take the time to consider how their life could have been different. They may briefly consider it, but don't dwell on what they can't change. People move on. They leave the hard work down to the butterflies, never taking it into consideration that such a small creature can have such vast outcomes.

It gives me faith to know that power comes to us all, and we all have the power to change our destinies. And with faith comes a realisation, I will always be the butterfly.

After all, what harm can a butterfly do?

A/N: Not sure if that made any sense. I know it was short, but I didn't want to ramble more than necessary.
