Not that I need to say this.....I don't own anything. This is hopefully AU, it takes place after the current storyline.

"It's a beautiful day, don't you think?" The girl smiled, trying to arrange the flowers to best show their colors.

The boy standing a few paces behind her 'hmmed' noncommittally, lazily watching her graceful hands move over the flowers.

"It really is nice out. It's such a bright day, it makes me think of Naruto- kun's hair...it was just like the sun. So bright..." Sakura's voice trailed off, her hands settling over the delicate blossoms. "I've never been very good at arranging flowers. I wish I could make them perfect."

Sasuke leaned back against a tree, his eyes focused protectively on Sakura. For a moment, he reached up as if to adjust his forehead protector, but let his hand fall to his side again.

A teardrop fell on a petal, shimmering there for a second before rolling off. "Why did he always have to be such an idiot?" Sakura gave a weak laugh, the tears now streaming down her face. Reaching up, she carefully traced the characters engraved on the memorial tablet, as if to prove to herself that they were real. "Oh, Naruto..."

Sasuke looked the other way, his usual cool mask slipping for a moment to show a deep-rooted pain.

"Why, Naruto?" Sakura's voice was soft and filled with an underlying pain. "Why did you have to die?" Her hands folded over the flowers, shaking slightly.

Sasuke spun suddenly, his hands pulling off the forehead protector he wore. Holding it in his hand, he stared at it for a moment before dropping it to the ground. When he spoke, his voice was dull and flat. "I can't wear this. He wouldn't want me to."

Sakura turned, her face set angrily. Tears still flowed from her eyes, but her eyes were determined. "Don't be an idiot Sasuke-kun! Naruto went chasing off after you and gave his life to bring you back to the village. He wouldn't have gone if he didn't care about you." Her voice softened, and she looked down before continuing. "He really cared about you. He knew that you belonged here, with us. I think he would have wanted you to have his headband." Reaching down, she gathered into her hand and held it out to him, smiling.

Sasuke reached tentatively for the headband, but his fingers pulled back before he touched it. "Do you really think it's okay?"

Sakura laughed slightly. "Of course it's okay. He was your friend, wasn't he?"

Sasuke's hand closed over the cool metal. "Yeah...friends."
