Heat Sink
A BattleTech Supplement

Chapter 2
Nolan raced through the burning corridors, jumping and ducking fallen girders and hull support struts. On his way down to the hanger he past his quarters and stopped suddenly. He dashed into to his room, looked around frantically and grabbed two things from the small metal box he used as a desk and the pistol his wife had given him. Then he was running through the corridors again. By the time he reached the hanger, the ship's automatic systems had refitted and powered up his BattleMech. He climbed the ladder up to the cockpit of the giant warrior. He jumped in and closed the canopy, donning his helmet and battle harness as he did so.
"Checking systems." Nolan said in a calm voice. "How are you doing, Sadi?" Sadi was what he had nicknamed his 'Mech. "I am well, sir. Destination please?"
"Anywhere but here, please, Sadi." Nolan's personal 'Mech was one of beauty. He had designed and built it himself. Everything in her was a custom piece of work. The onboard computer, was programmed to do anything and everything possible to protect itself from being captured or destroyed. Nolan didn't want anyone stealing his baby. He had designed the 'Mech so that he wouldn't have to use one of those common 'Mechs like a Wraith, a Hunchback, or a JagerMech. He even named the class of it after himself. The very first of the Manshir-class BattleMechs.
