The wedding. It was today. Solid Snake jumped out of bed while Meryl slept, and dressed quickly, putting on his best suit. He woke Meryl, and she got into the beautiful wedding dress they had picked together. After some getting ready, it was only ten minutes until they were to leave.
"Come on Meryl, it's nearly time." Snake was very excited.
"Snake, I've just got to get the post. It's just arrived." Snake went over to where she was, in the living room.

"What's that?"

"I don't know. They're aren't any markings on it."
"Well, open it, then."

Nothing in the world could have prepared Snake for what followed. It all happened so fast. One moment, him and the woman he loved were about to get married, the next she was dying.

"A letter bomb...Meryl, NOOOOO! Why? WHY?" Snake broke down and began to sob. He clutched her body, still in the wedding dress. The sense just came to him, through his depression on their wedding day, to call an ambulance. He dialled 911 and sat, sobbing, while he waited for the answer. Meryl's voice floated around in his head. "Snake..." He loved the way she still called him by his codename. The phone was answered.

"Hello...ambulance. My wife's just been killed. I need an ambulance now." Snake's voice was shaky and he was holding back tears.
"We'll be there right away. The address, sir?" Snake gave out his address and then waited, crying.
