CHAPTER TWO----SPIKE'S POV
I wish I had stayed dead.
I don't wanna see this.
Don't wanna see Harris in that wheelchair all catatonic like he is.
Been that way since he found her. Found Dawn.
I can't even look at the coffin. Don't wanna see her in that thing.
She doesn't belong there, I do.
Dawn. My Dawn.
An' she was mine. They never knew, 'cept for him. Heard him outside the crypt one mornin'. Bloody idiot never was too stealthy.
But he kept his mouth shut. Surprised me, that did. Figured he'd be all up to the Slayer tellin' her 'bout Big Bad and Lil Sis.
He never told. He wouldn't do anything to hurt her, even to spite me. That's when I knew he loved her too. 'Tho the way he used to watch her should've clued me in. He'd look at her like he was worshipping her. Made me jealous as hell. Then she'd come to me and I'd forget all 'bout Harris.
I remember the last time I saw her. Looked like an avenging angel fightin' off the hordes of Hell.
Beautiful.
Beautiful and mine.
They're closing the coffin lid and I wanna crawl in next to her. Wrap my arms 'round her like before.
I love her so much, and she loved me. An angel that loved a demon. Felt like Heaven in her arms.
Feels like Hell standin' here watching them lower her into the ground.
Slayer and Red are cryin' their eyes out. Giles is just standin' there lookin' older than the dirt that's slowly covering her.
Harris doesn't see anything. Lucky bastard.
I don't wanna see this. The Power's That Be owe me one.
Nibblet, I'll see you soon luv.
The sun peeked over the horizon the next morning illuminating the figure standing next to the fresh grave. In moments, all that was left was a pile of ash and a black trench coat.
