Michael sat on his bike waiting for Maria. All was silent, except for the occasional clap of thunder. The school bell rang out loud. Seconds later laughing and screaming children came funning out of the building.

The kids began to leave. Then Michael watched Maria come out. She smiled when she saw him. Walking quickly to him she kissed him softly before climbing onto his bike, her arms wound around his waist.

#Playground school bell rings, again Rain clouds come to play again#

With another loud clap of thunder, there was a sudden down pour.

Michael revved the engine and took off down the road.

They stopped at a red light. Maria's face buried in his back. Both soaked to the bone.

The light changed, and Michael glanced at his love over his shoulder before starting through the intersection.

A coming from the other direction tried to hit their breaks.

Maria's scream echoed in his ear as his bike spun out of control.

Michael paced frantically up and down the hallway. They wouldn't tell him anything.

#Has no one told you she's not breathing?#

A doctor walked over to him, blood stained his hands and clothes. "Mr. Guerin. I'm sorry."

"Let me see her." The doctor led him down to the room she was in.

Michael found himself alone in the room with his wife. Her skin was so white, blood that covered the bed she lay on made it worse.

"You can't be dead Maria. I need you. I'm so lost without you. You're everything to me. I need you."

#Hello, I'm your mind, giving you someone to talk to. Hello#

Maria appeared beside him, but when he tried to touch her she faded into nothing.

A week passed. The funeral was over. Everyone gathered at Michael and Maria's home, eating, talking, and remembering. Michael forced a smile. Knowing that when they left, he'd wake up. She would be back.

#If I smile and don't believe Soon I know I'll wake from this dream.#

Weeks passed. "Michael you should get help." A concerned friend said to him.

"You need to get out of the house. This isn't healthy."

#Don't try to fic me I'm not broken. Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide. Don't cry.#

Michael laid in bed, holding onto Maria. His wife.

He jerked awake and reached for her, but she wasn't there.

Her scent was already beginning to fade. Over a month since the accident.

#Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping. Hello I'm still here, all that's left of yesterday#

Michael got up and walked across the room. It was still full of her things. Clothes, makeup, shoes.

He swore he could hear her giggle from the bed.

Michael turned around and looked at his bed.

There he saw Maria sobbing quietly.

"Maria?" Michael watched Kyle walk into the room.

"Kyle... he's gone Kyle. He's gone! I need him! I don't know what to do without him."

"You'll go on with your life. You're strong. You can make it."

Maria sat up and swore she saw Michael standing by the dresser. Their eyes locked and he disappeared.

"Get some sleep Maria. You need to get up early for the funeral tomorrow."

Maria nodded and laid back down. She'd never felt more alone. Her husband, the man she loved more than anything, was killed when his bike spun out of control after being sideswiped by a speeding car on his way to pick her up from work.

She'd rushed to the hospital but it was too late. She stood beside the blood soaked bed he laid on and cried, begging him not to leave her. But it was too late. And now she was left to live her life alone. Without him.
