A/N: Okay, this is my first School of Rock fic, so it might suck, but if it
does - please be nice! Well, I don't know where the idea for this fic came
from, but the idea didn't want to leave me alone, so here ya go! Oh yes,
and I know it's not a very good title BUT it's a line from one of the
band's songs so. . . .I thought it fitted!
Summary: It's the day before a big competition, and everyone's well prepared for it. So nothing can go badly, right? Wrong! What will the band do when Freddy collapses during band practise? Read to find out!
You'd Better Get Me To School On Time
"Hey Freddy, you're late dude!" Dewey said, raising an eyebrow, and pointing at his watch.
"Yeah, sorry," Freddy apologised, closing the door behind him. "Fell asleep."
"In the middle of the day?" Zack asked.
"Yeah. So?"
"Sorry!"
"That's enough! Freddy, drum set now." Dewey pointed to the drum set in the corner. Freddy scowled but went over and sat down. "Okay, listen up everyone. Big competition tomorrow! Now, I know yo -"
"Uh-oh."
"Summer? That doesn't sound so good."
"It isn't. According to this -" Summer gestured to the piece of paper she was holding "- we're not on the list!"
"What?!" Everyone crowded round Summer, except for Katie and Freddy.
"Hey Freddy, can you come help me with this?"
"Yeah. What's up?" He asked, scooting round the edge of the drums. Katie held out her bass guitar.
"Can you hold this for me while I tune it up?"
"Yeah." As Katie twiddled with the tuners, she sneaked a look at the blond boy standing in front of her.
"Freddy, are you okay? You don't look so good." He was paler than usual, and a think line of sweat was forming on his brow, matting his hair to his forehead.
"I don't feel so good," he admitted.
"Maybe you should go home and lie down. Damn it!" Katie glared at her bass.
"Look, you hold it, and I'll try and tune it, okay?"
"Okay." Katie took the bass. "Like I said, maybe you should go home and lie down."
"No, there's no point. We've gotta -" he broke off as he started coughing. "We've gotta practise, and you can't practise without a drummer."
"Freddy. . ."
"Katie, just leave it!" Freddy snapped.
"Sorry. Hey, wrong way!" She added as Freddy twisted the tuner the wrong way. She reached out to turn it back, but froze with her hand over Freddy's. He looked up at her. "Freddy, your hand's shaking." He snatched it back. "Freddy, what's wrong with you?"
"Nothing," he insisted
"You're ill!"
"No, I'm not."
"Freddy. . ."
"Katie, I'm not - I'm not. . ." Suddenly, his knees buckled underneath him, and he fell heavily to the ground.
"FREDDY!" Katie screamed. Everyone on the other side of the room looked up to see Freddy lying face down on the ground, Katie knelt by his side. Dewey was over in an instant, everyone behind him.
"Freddy?" Dewey said, gently shaking the unconscious boy's shoulder.
"What happened?" Marta asked, worry etched on her face.
"He said he wasn't feeling well - then - I don't know, he just collapsed!" Katie sobbed, in tears.
"Move back you guys, give him some room," Dewey said. He carefully rolled the drummer onto his back.
"Oh my god," Tomika gasped. He was incredibly pale, and his hair was completely flat against his forehead. She knelt down and lay her hand on his forehead. "He's burning up!"
"Freddy man, can you hear me? Freddy, wake up!" Dewey said.
"Someone should call an ambulance!" Zack told him.
"Lawrence, go an -"
"Wait, he's waking up." Freddy was moaning softly. He tossed his head.
"Come on Freddy, you can do it," Marta whispered. Everyone watched with bated breath as his eyelids fluttered. . . .
A/N: Yeah, that might not be too great, but please don't flame me! Reviews would be lovely but flames will shoved under the tap. LOL ignore me and please review! Until next time (which should be in about 1-2 days)!
