Chapter 2: The Strange and Unusual
Michiru paced the living room, occasionally lifting the curtain to look out the window. Setsuna sat with Hotaru on the couch while Hotaru read aloud to them. She didn't notice Michiru's anixety or Setsuna's quiet worry. But after a while she noticed that their attention was elsewhere and was concerned for what she saw in their eyes.
"Setsuna-mama? Michiru-mama?" she looked around at them, putting her book down.
"I'm sorry, we're listening," Setsuna said, turning back to her. Hotaru smiled and continued reading even though she knew that something was troubling them. Michiru forced herself to sit down and stay still as she listened to Hotaru. She was worried; it wasn't like Haruka to simply...vanish. But if Setsuna and Hotaru weren't overly concerned then she had to trust that everything was fine.
Haruka woke up that next morning, relieved that the pain her in head had seemed to subsided. She realized that she must have passed out since she remembered getting up and then waking up this morning. Yawning, she sat up and then paused, seeing Seiya asleep in the chair next to the bed. She looked at him for a moment, unable to think. She shook her head, thinking how no other had made her react like this, not noticing when he woke up.
"Haruka? Are you ok?" he asked, leaning over her, looking concerned.
"I'm fine," she said quickly, thinking she just must have hit her head really hard. She and Seiya had been enemies since the first time the three Starlights encountered the outer senshi so he couldn't be worried about her.
"Ok, are you hungry?" he asked, standing over her.
"No, I should go now," she insisted, getting up.
"Just relax," Seiya said and before he realized it, he had an arm around her. "Taiki said you got a concussion from that youma and that you should take it easy, " he said.
"I am not going to fall apart! I can look after myself!" she snapped. She started out the door before she noticed that she must have been wearing some of Seiya's clothes since they were loose on her. He silently held up her clothes that were neatly folded and she snatched them from him. "Do you mind giving me some privacy?" she demanded angrily.
"Oh, sorry," he said and was out the door quickly, almost afraid to look back.
"I hear poor Sailor Uranus is alive and kicking," Yaten remarked as Seiya came into the kitchen. Taiki glanced up from his book, choosing to stay out of the storm that was certainly coming.
"And it seems you havn't lost your charm," Seiya glared at Yaten. Taiki looked back down at his book but listened.
"Neither have you. She was yelling at you since she was so grateful," Yaten smiled at his remarked.
"Well, Perhaps she wasn't but at least she isn't as nasty as you manage to be all the time. Now, if you don't mind, leave me alone!" Seiya snapped and stormed out.
"Well, isn't he a little touchy this morning," Yaten commented. Taiki wondered why Seiya was so defensive of Haruka suddenly especially since they were constantly fighting with each other. Sometimes, he thought, the universe worked in strange and mysterious ways.
