Chapter 7: Confrontation
It was a dark night and the moon and stars were covered by the black clouds that loomed over the city.
"What do you want?" Haruka demanded, glaring at Taiki and Yaten who stood before her in the deserted park. A few splatters of rain came down and the wind surrounded them. Haruka had a hand on her sword, unnoticed by the two Starlights.
"You're heartless. You hurt Seiya and could care less," Taiki said quietly. The two Starlights watched in vain for Haruka's reaction but she was able to hide her confusion. She had no idea that she had done anything to Seiya and the demand from the other two Starlights to talk with her had come as a surprise. She hadn't told any of the outers and had gone alone, ready for anything.
"I have no idea what you are talking about," she said coldly.
"Just stay away from him," Yaten said, irritated at her.
"Why would I want to see him?" she asked but in her mind, she knew the answer to that question.
"Fine. I'm glad that we understand each other," Taiki said. Yaten still looked angrily at her but was silent. She only nodded in agreement and watched as they left, leaving her alone in the cold darkness.
By the time they had come home, Yaten and Taiki were soaking wet.
"Where have the two you been?" Seiya asked, meeting them in the hallway as they stood in the door, dripping on the carpet.
"Oh, you're back," Yaten said, surprised, trying to dry his hair, wincing at the knots. "Never mind. I'm going out for a while," Seiya shrugged, walking past the two of them.
"She doesn't want to see you," Yaten said sharply.
"What?" Seiya turned to him, not needing to ask who Yaten was referring to.
"She told us that she didn't want to see you," Taiki said. There was a moment of silence.
"She told you that?" Seiya asked, looking at them.
"Yes, at the senshi meeting this evening," Taiki lied quickly.
"Oh," Seiya looked out the window where rain was pouring down outside.
"It was for the best," Taiki said quietly to Yaten as he left, glancing at Seiya, who sat on the couch staring out at the storm outside.
"I know," Yaten agreed but still felt uneasy.
Earlier on Kinmoku:
"Seiya, if there is someone that you love, let nothing interfer with that," Princess Kakyu looked Seiya in the eyes.
"Yes, Princess," he said, looking back at her.
"Go back to Earth, go back to her. I hope it works out for you," Kakyu said, smiling at him.
"Thank you, your highness," Seiya smiled back at her, his heart lighter.
All night the storm rage on outside. All night Seiya stared up at the shadows dancing on the ceiling of his room with a heavy heart.
