Chapter 9: The Kiss
Seiya trudged behind Yaten and Taiki up the stairs to temple where Raye lived with her grandfather. There was a senhsi meeting there this afternoon and Taiki had literally dragged him out of his room and to the temple.
The three of this were the last to arrive at the meeting. He saw Haruka sitting between Setsuna and Hotaru but she didn't seem to notice him.
The meeting was like any other; Raye and Usagi got in a fight over something within the first few minutes and from there it escalated. Minako tried to break it up and got involved. Mamoru looked slightly overwhelmed and Ami and Makoto sat and watched them, both looking embarrassed. Luna and Artemis tried to intervene and got into the argument as well, leaving everyone else looking at them with a mixture of disbelief and annoyance. Sometimes Seiya wondered how Minako, Raye, and Usagi had managed to get along to save the world. He assumed there must have been magic or something involved to make that possible.
He noticed Haruka slip out noticed by the others and followed her when Yaten and Taiki were looking elsewhere.
"Haruka," he caught up to her in the large open courtyard.
"Seiya," her voice was level and she didn't turn to look at him.
"I know you didn't want to see me but I just had to say that I'm sorry for what I said in the car," he said, nervous.
"I never said that I didn't want to see you," she said quietly.
"But Yaten and Taiki said..." he started, and then stopped when he realized what his brothers must have done. He would make sure to deal with them later. "There was something else that I wanted to tell you as well, " he continued. Haruka turned to him as he took a deep breath, trying to think of what to say next. On an impulse, he took a step towards her and kissed her.
Haruka froze, caught off guard. She felt Seiya's arm around her waist as he kissed her and she found herself relaxing.
Seiya was certain that Haruka was going to kill him for this but she hadn't pulled away. When he broke the kiss a moment later and looked into her eyes, he was certain that he wasn't going to have to run for it.
"I think we've lost Seiya," Yaten said to Taiki, looking around.
"Lost?" Taiki said, looking annoyed.
"I'll find him..." Yaten suggested as he got up but stopped when Taiki grabbed his long silver ponytail. "Oww! Let go, Taiki! You're ruining my hair!" Yaten whined, trying to free his ponytail from Taiki's grasp.
"Sit," Taiki ordered. Yaten quickly sat and Taiki let go. "You're so mean, Taiki," Yaten grumbled, combing his hair. The inners were still involved with Usagi and Raye so didn't notice them but Hotaru and Setsuna had seen the whole thing and noticed that Haruka was gone as well.
