Chapter 16: Chaos

Yaten had a plan. He didn't know if it would work but he had to at least try. Picking up his pen, he started to write, smiling to himself.

The next morning as she picked up the newspaper from the doorstep, Michiru noticed a letter with Haruka's name neatly printed on it sitting under the doormat. She took it in with her, curious.
"This was on the doormat," Michiru said as she handed the letter to Haruka.
"Thanks," Haruka said, opening the letter. Her eyes widened as she read it, paling. It was from Seiya, breaking off their relationship. Apparently all they had was momentary lapse in judgment and that it had been a mistake according to him. The letter dropped from her hands, her mind reeling from shock.
"Haruka?" Setsuna looked over at her, concerned. At the other end of the table, Hotaru stopped playing with her cereal to look over at her, curious. Michiru picked up the letter and read it. She passed it to Setsuna, her eyes hard with anger.
"You never told him about the baby, did you?" Setsuna asked after she finished reading the letter.
"And I don't see why I need to now," she said coldly. Michiru and Setsuna glanced at each other for a moment, at a loss.
Unnoticed by the others, Hotaru took the letter and read it carefully, her eyes an ice storm of anger. If Seiya thought that he had made a mistake before, she would show him his mistake in hurting Haruka.

Seiya was depressed and worried. He hadn't heard from Haruka in days. What troubled him most was that at the last senshi meeting, she had completely ignored him. Not only that but Michiru, Setsuna, and Hotaru were close to openly hostile to him. He could have sworn Hotaru glared at him most of the time.
None of this escaped Taiki. He also noticed Yaten's reaction that could only been seen as relief.
