Chapter 20: Luna and Artemis Get Involved
Seiya's life was in ruins. He was convinced that the forces of the universe were working against him. First he had to fall for Usagi who had been engaged and had a daughter from the future and now Haruka, who had left him. The universe had to be against him.
Michiru was worried. She had seen how Haruka had loved Seiya and had read the letter he had sent her. But now Haruka acted like there was nothing wrong, she seemed happy even. Michiru had even heard her discussing possible names for the baby with Setsuna. Seiya had not been mentioned.
Michiru had seen Haruka depressed and angry before, especially during the time when they had fought the Death Busters. But now Haruka didn't show even a hint of anger, hurt, or bitterness. Michiru was not fooled however.
Artemis had a bad feeling in his stomach as Minako told him about Seiya's strange behavior earlier that day. Luna had told him about Haruka and Seiya. He felt there was something odd going on that he felt Minako was in the middle of. His ears picked up when Minako mentioned Yaten and how he had suggested the outing.
He dug his claws into the bed while Minako got ready for bed as the pieces of the puzzle fell into place in his mind. He had to talk to Luna and then they had to fix the mess.
As soon as Minako was asleep, he was out the window and vanished into the night.
"It was Yaten," Artemis said as soon as he had run up to Luna who sat on the wall outside Usagi's house, not pausing to catch his breath.
"What are you talking about?" Luna asked.
"I don't think Seiya sent that letter to Haruka. Minako said that Yaten set her and Seiya up to go out today-"
"At an obvious place where Haruka would see them" Luna finished, bowing her head. They had learned of the letter from Setsuna and had been keeping an eye on the whole mess.
"Right. What are we going to do?" Artemis asked, hoping Luna had an answer since he didn't.
"Get Haruka and Seiya together and tell them the truth. After that we can find a way to deal with Yaten," Luna said evenly. "I only hope it's not too late" she said quietly.
