"WHAT!?" Yelled the icicle at the top of his lungs. Hannya backed away, "Hee hee, I thought that you asked someone else to dress up as Kurogasa. Anywayz, Himura-san seemed pretty pissed and his eyes turned amber when I was there with Beshimi." Aoshi's eyes widened and he quickly ran off. "Wait up Aoshi!" Called out Misao and the group before quickly catching up with him.
*At Kenshin's house*
"Hiko-san! Tell us where Kenshin is! Quickly!" Yelled Megumi and Misao at the same time with the Oniwabanshu, Aoshi and Sano behind them. Hiko raised an eyebrow before taking another sip of his beloved sake, "My baka deshi didn't tell me that he was having a party, I didn't know that he was this popular. BAKA DESHI! Your friends are here for your party, next time if you're having a party let me know!"
Kenshin quickly ran down the stairs and was shocked to find his friends and the Oniwabanshu there despite the fact that his amber coloured eyes showed no emotion except for hatred, "I'm gonna look for Kaoru so you guys try to find out some info about Kurogasa, got it?" "Kenshin, what happened to your eyes?" Said Sano fearfully. "Nothing, it only turns this colour when I get pissed off, runs in my family," Kenshin replied in a soft, but dangerous tone.
"You're Battousai, aren't you?" Asked Aoshi with a bit of fear in his voice, despite the fact that he was as emotionless as ever. "Aah, I am Battousai the guy who killed his best friend.......by accident." All their eyes widened in shock, "Tell us your story, we've still got plenty of time to save Kaoru......." Said Aoshi in his usual serious tone. Battousai heaved a sigh before starting off with his story, "It all started when....
*Flashback* (A year ago in Kyoto)
"Hey Tomoe! Why did you call me here by the river this Tanabata?" Asked Kenshin curiously with his usual smile. A girl who was wearing a yellow-coloured summer dress with long dark hair, unique dark eyes and porcelain-like skin smiled at him, "Kenshin, the reason why I called you here is because I wanted to tell you something....It's really hard for me to say but...but...."
Kenshin looked at her curiously, "Come on Tomoe, you know you can tell me anything. I'm your best friend so there's nothing to be so shy about." Tomoe looked down at her feet, "It's really hard for me to say it cos well.....I like you...more than just a best friend, and I really fancy you....Or maybe I'm even in love with you cos these feelings feel so strong – Stronger than how I felt for Akira."
Kenshin's eyes widened, "Really Tomoe?" She nodded shyly, "Yeah, I've had these feelings locked up inside me for about a couple of months now....I've always thought that you were cute, but I never knew that I would fall for you. Do you feel the same way as I do?" Kenshin looked at her sheepishly, "Sorry to break your heart Tomoe, but I only think of you as my best friend. I hope you understand and besides there are other guys who're better than me so you still wanna stay friends?"
Tears started forming in her eyes despite the fact that she tried holding them back, "I understand Kenshin, and we can still be friends. Best friends forever still right?" She then pasted a fake smile. Kenshin smiled back, "Yeah, best friends forever." Both of them pinky crossed and then started talking as if nothing had happened.
Then suddenly out from nowhere, a group of bandits popped out from the bushes and snatched Tomoe away. Kenshin quickly ran over to Tomoe's side where the bandit who had taken her was and punched him before taking his sword away from him and he fought the other bandits. After he had finished with them, he went over to Tomoe to see if she was alright.
A bandit quickly sneaked up behind Kenshin and then Tomoe quickly ran in between them since she did not want to see anymore blood shed. Kenshin turned around to kill the bandit, but had accidentally poked his sword through Tomoe. She fell to the ground and he glared at the bandit before bashing him up and the poor guy lay on the ground unconsciously.
He quickly ran over to her side and bent down, "I'm so sorry Tomoe! I'm sorry for everything! I'm not worthy; I haven't even been a true friend to you!" Tears formed in his eyes and they dropped onto Tomoe's delicate features. "Kenshin, you are worthy and you've been a true friend – You taught me how to open up to people and make friends, you were always there for me no matter what. You even missed out your football game to visit me when I had the measles despite the fact that it was a really important game. So you've been the best friend I've ever had."
Kenshin smiled at her, "Arigato Tomoe. You'll still hang on there right?" Tomoe looked up at him sadly, "I'm afraid not – I'll be dead in a couple of minutes, but I'm happy to have met you and ever since you came my life has brightened up. Come on it's not the end of the world Kenshin, you've still got to live." Kenshin's eyes widened before choking back a sob, "No Tomoe you've gotta hang on – I know you can."
Tomoe shook her head gently, "No Kenshin I can't. I can already see the spirits around me...I'll be gone forever very soon, so let me tell you this quickly; Live life till it's fullest, find the love of your life and live a happy life....I love you with all my heart and all I want for you is to be happy – I'll find the one for me up there....So remember ok?" Suddenly, she went limp and her eyes closed slowly, but she had a small smile on her lips. Kenshin wept and hugged her body near him..................................... *End of flashback*
*Back to the present*
"........and that's what happened," said Kenshin sadly despite the fact that his eyes were still amber. Misao gasped, "I'm so sorry Kenshin, I really am...But before we can go into further detail we've gotta save Kao- chan!" "You're right, we've gotta save her....Let's go everyone!" And with that, they all set off to save Kaoru...
