Lucid Azure Eyes
~
He was curled in a small ball in the corner of a shadowy room, alone.
Alone.
A word he was all too familiar with.
You did it once; you can do it again...
"No," He whispered. "I won't. Not again. I'm stronger than that now."
Ha - strong? You are weak.
"No -" His lucid azure eyes flicked around the room, searching for the voice's possessor. He was panting now, his haunted eyes exploring the ever-present darkness. "I'm stronger now - I- I know I am...I've gotta be..." The voice laughed - a evocative, chilling laugh that rang through the room and the small figure's head.
Lying achieves nothing but your own pain.
He knew the voice was right - it must be. He was weak. His courage faltered, leaving a cavity for the voice to attack.
You admit this to yourself but not to me - you are nothing. You are not brave. You are not strong. You. are. nothing. Nothing without me....
His eyes swept up, a new determination in them. His voice was naught but a whisper, but his tone was grave. He felt burning behind his eyelids, but fought back his tears. He was sick of being alone. Sick of being tired and afraid and neglected.
"What must I do?" The voice uttered yet another chilling laugh.
You must give your heart to me. To darkness.
"Darkness..." The murmur rolled gently across his lips - as vile as a draught of poison but as sweet as honey. A tear escaped from his eye. He gave one last thought towards his friends...to his home and to hope.... but no...they had all neglected him long ago. The boy - for he was nothing more than that - took one last breath, before willingly turning his heart over to darkness again.
The room filled with a dark blue light, infesting the boy's body and shooting through his heart. He felt a stab of pain, but only one. When he opened his eyes again they held a strange blue glow. He had no remorse, for he blocked memories of happiness and light, beautiful light out of his mind. Blue flames flared from his hand and he smiled, feeling, once again, in control. For after all, who could stop him? No one could stop him, for he was ready now. Ready for light, and ready to conquer it once and for all.
The door swung open. The boy was now on his feet, a commanding look about him. The two creatures could feel the authority reflecting from the boy's eyes and the way the flames extinguished with a wave of his hand. They bowed, murmuring his name under their breaths.
"Lord Riku..."
Riku smiled and walked out of the room in which he had been held captive with his head held high and his eyes dancing. Darkness had won.
