Blink of an Eye

Disclaimer: I do not own Lord of the Rings. Obviously. Actually, I don't own that much.

A/N: I hope this won't be that bad. This will only be a short story. But I hope to write something longer really soon. So, hopefully someone will like this, at least a little.

So quickly, a life can be tossed away. Always had I known this. Never once in my entire life, has it hit me so hard. Some give up their lives willingly, others know when that time comes, the rest...shouldn't be the way they are.

This man gave up his life, though I am afraid he suffered for too long. We have lost one more. The hand of death must have thought one, was not enough. The Fellowship has split, and though my hope has cracked, I still have the strength to continue.

I look back to see Gimli, son of Gloin standing back near the waters edge. He watched after me. The Dwarf had no knowledge of my plan. The Elf, Legolas stood further back, preparing to follow the two Hobbits. I had warned him away from the small boat. We were not going to follow them. Merry and Pippin needed us.

Understanding, Legolas and Gimli followed. Each one held a small smile. Even for a second. I cannot say for sure if they trusted my judgement, but I feel there will be something more upon this path than we ever expected. There will be more to this journey than meets the eye.

Two little Hobbits lead themselves to their fate. As do we. To end the war of the ring, we all must work together. But in the blink of an eye, something could go horribly wrong.

A/N: Oh darn. That was worse than I thought. And shorter than I expected!! This is the first thing like this I have ever written! So, if it's not very good, then I will work harder to make my stories better. And when I have more time, I will make them longer. Please review.
