"And that's why decimals mean so much on our lives," finished Mr.
Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was teaching the ninth graders all about decimals.
It was his favorite topic. He could tell that the students really didn't
care, though. Suddenly, the bell rang. Everyone quickly got out of their
seats and rushed out of the classroom. Sean started to leave.
"Mr. Cameron, I need to talk to you," said Mr. Armstrong. Sean walked over to his desk as soon as all the other kids left.
"Make this quick," Sean said. "I have places to go."
"I'm sure this is more important than anything you need to do," explained Mr. Armstrong. He opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out Sean's last test. "Sean, we need to talk about your grades. You got fifteen perfect on your last test, and an eighteen on the test before it. With grades like these, you're going to be stuck in ninth grade forever."
Sean sighed. He really didn't care about his grades. Infact, he really didn't care about life. Nothing went right for him, so why bother to care? "Uh, that's great. See ya."
"Wait!" called Mr. Armstrong. "Take this test and show it to your parents. I want them to sign it and see it so they know how you're doing in school."
'Ugh,' thought Sean. 'My parents will really care about this test. They're the parents of the year!' Sean walked out of the classroom, clutching his test. He made the test into a ball, and threw it to a garbage can. He misses. All of a sudden, Mr. Raditch appeared out of nowhere.
"No littering," said Mr. Raditch. "You seem to have a habit of doing it, though. Keep it up and you're getting suspended." Mr. Raditch walked away. Sean picked up the test paper. He started walking to get home, or what some people would call a home for rats. Sean reached to open the door, but Emma suddenly ran up to him.
"Hi Sean," she said with a smile.
"What do you want, Emma?" asked Sean with a groan. "We broke up. I don't want to talk to you anymore. Go bug someone else."
"I just wanted to say 'hi,'" said Emma. She started to notice the test Sean was holding. "Uh, you know, I could help you in math."
The last thing Sean needed was a tutor in math who was his ex-girlfriend. He through the paper at her face, and walked out of the school. As he walked to his house, he spotted a wishing well.
'If I had a penny right now,' thought Sean. 'I'd wish that I was asleep for ten years so I wouldn't have to deal with life.'
Suddenly, Sean saw a penny on the sidewalk. That was weird, because Sean was pretty sure he hadn't seen a penny there before. He picked up the penny and dropped it in the wishing well.
"I wish I was asleep for ten years!" he exclaimed.
All of a sudden, he noticed a strange looking man behind a tree. Apparently, that man was spying on him. The man started running to a big, white building that Sean had seen before but never bothered to go in. Sean started chasing after the man. Nobody spied on Sean and got away with it!
After a minute or two, the man walked up to the main door of the big, white building and walked inside. Sean walked inside too. Inside of the building was a very clean hallway with a few doors. Sean walked into the room to his left, where the man might've gone into. But instead of finding that man, he found a room full of ice!
"Who would have a room full of ice?!" Sean asked out loud.
Sean started to open the door to go back into the hallway. But he couldn't. The door was frozen shut. How Sean got into the room through the other side was a mystery to him.
'Uh-oh,' thought Sean. 'Looks like I'm stuck here. Well, someone will find me soon.'
Little did Sean know that soon was actually ten years.
