A/N:- a kinda short chapter I think but hey, I really couldn't think of what to write at the time.

April watched as Lily paced around the living room.

"I'm not going to work." Lily said to April angrily.

"Why not?" April asked. April wouldn't have been here because she was incredibly busy but she'd bumped into James an hour earlier. He hadn't shaved and he looked incredibly rough. Lily didn't look much better. April guessed there was something that had happened between them. Lily was in the muggle clothes she wore when she didn't really feel very good.

"Because I don't want to see Him" Lily said.

"See who?" April asked.

"James, I don't want to see James OK!" Lily screamed at April. Lily turned and blasted a photo of James and her together. April started and jumped off the sofa. She went straight to Lily and grabbed her wand.

"What happened between you two?" April asked. Lily was breathing heavily and she fell onto the sofa with her face in her hands. April put Lily's wand on the coffee table and sat next to Lily and put her arms around her.

"He tried to kill me" Lily sobbed. April tensed when she heard this.

"What? When?" She asked looking into Lily's face.

"A few weeks ago. I threw him out of the house." Lily said.

"My god, are you ok?" April said adopting the Muggle term. Lily nodded slowly but she still looked incredibly depressed.

"I think I am. I'm more worried about the baby. James used the cruciatus curse on me." Lily said. April's eyes widened.

"It can't have been him Lily, James would never do that, he loves you way too much." April said trying to make sense of what Lily was telling her. James would never had done anything like that to her.

"Well he was cursed at the time." Lily said quietly.

"The Imperius curse?" April asked. Lily nodded. "Merlin, Lily. And you're annoyed with him! If he was cursed it wasn't him doing it." Lily looked at April angrily.

"You try watching your husband threatening to kill you and then using an unforgivable curse on you." She said getting up and crossing her arms as if to try and comfort herself. "It's very disconcerting." A few tears fell down Lily's face. April bit her lip and stood up as well and went to Lily.

"Did he fight it?" April asked.

"Eventually." Lily said, "But only after he'd hurt me." Lily didn't look at April and looked into the blank TV.

"That's why he was looking so rough at work." April said. Lily looked up at April.

"Is he ok?" Lily asked, she couldn't help herself from asking it. April smiled slightly.

"No he's not, I kinda spoke to him a little bit but he was so torn up over something and I just couldn't make sense of what he was saying."

"April, I don't know what to do. I mean I want James back and I love him so much but what if he does something like that again?" Lily asked April. April sighed and gave Lily a tight embrace. When they pulled apart April kept her hands on Lily's shoulders and looked into Lily's eyes.

"I have to get back to training but do something for me." Lily nodded, "Forgive him. He didn't mean to do that. I respect the two of you, you used to be enemies, less then a year ago you two were at each other's necks and now look at you. You're more in love then most people will ever be. If you two can't make it work out there's no hope for the rest of us. If I remember rightly Evans and Potter were quite the opposites and quite the enemies." April said with a smirk. Lily smiled slightly.

"Have you ever considered trying for minister of Magic?" Lily asked.

"Sounds good doesn't it?" April said grinning, "I just know how to make you cheer up. I try and try with Sirius but it just doesn't work."

"Get to work, I don't want you to be kicked out of Auror training because of me." Lily said. April grinned and disappeared.

James sat at his desk scratching his parchment with his quill. He felt so bad, he had tried to kill his wife! James' hatred for Voldemort had reached an all new high, a new level. Sirius had managed to escape, apparently once Voldemort had control of James he wasn't interested in Sirius and had disappeared. Sirius looked at James slightly concerned. There was a knock at their door and a familiar young woman with blond hair and a long black cloak with a gold wand embroidered on it gave them a smile.

"Hey boys." She said. Sirius smiled and got up to give her a kiss. She grinned and kissed his cheek. "You need to shave." She whispered to Sirius. Sirius stroked his chin.

"I think the stubble look suits me." Sirius said. "What do you think?" April shrugged.

"I have a message from Lily." She said. James looked up straight away.

"What did she say?"

"Well, nothing but I think you need to go home as soon as you can because I think she's going to forgive you, you bastard." April joked but James detected a hint of seriousness in her voice.

"Ok." James said. He picked up his cloak quickly and started to leave the office.

"Not yet, she's still cooling off. Go after lunch." April told James. He nodded reluctantly and put his cloak back down.

"Do you want to go to lunch?" Sirius asked April.

"Sorry, I have a session on disguising." April said. "And this evening it's stealth in the dark. I'm not going to be home until tomorrow evening."

"What!" Sirius asked annoyed. "I hate Auror training." April gave him a look.

"There is one disadvantage to it but otherwise I love it." She said.

"What's the disadvantage?" James asked.

"I can't see Sirius whenever I want" April said running a few fingers over Sirius' rough cheeks. "Well I have to go, I'll be late. Bye." April gave Sirius a quick kiss but he pulled her into an even deeper kiss, which April emerged from slightly flustered.

"Bye." Sirius said happily. April gave him a smile and gave James a wave. "I love her." Sirius said to himself. He hummed an annoyingly catchy tune and sat at his desk. James sighed and sat down and started his work on the Ludo Bagman case. They still hadn't resolved it and it was really bugging James that a quidditch player could be so stupid.

James apparated home as soon as work had finished. He had spent the past two weeks at his parents house but they kept nagging him to go back and apologise to Lily. James found Lily sitting on the sofa with her legs drawn under her. There was a mug of Hot Chocolate on the Coffee table and she was reading a fairly thick book. She looked slightly rough, like she hadn't had a good nights sleep in a while.

"Go away James." Lily said, James couldn't detect any sort of emotion in her voice. She didn't even look up from her book.

"Lily." James said, "I'm so sorry about the other night. The more I think about it the guiltier I feel and the more I think that I could have fought off the curse." James said. Lily lowered her book and looked at James seriously.

"Well, it was a bit worrying having your husband attack you but I think that we could put it behind us." Lily said.

"Really? You'll forgive me?" James asked hopefully. Lily sighed and put her book on the table and moved over for James to sit next to her, he did and moved to put an arm around her but she shrugged it off and looked at James seriously.

"I will forgive you but I still need time. I don't want to sleep with you for a while, well you can't sleep with me anyway, and I don't want you to go on any more order missions." Lily said. "I don't want to lose you." James gave Lily a reassuring smile.

"I'll tell Dumbledore that we quit the order." James said, making Lily smile. "And why can't I sleep with you?" James asked.

"Because I'm pregnant." Lily said.

"So?" James said, "I can still sleep with you."

"James, that's disgusting." Lily said in a disgusted voice.

"What?" He asked cluelessly. Lily gave him an unamused look and got up, picking up her mug. "Where are you going?" James asked getting up slightly.

"The kitchen." Lily said, "Is it a crime for a woman to walk into her own kitchen now?" Lily asked sarcastically.

"No." James said quickly, he sat back down "I'm just a bit on edge."

"So am I." Lily said as she left the room.
