Christmas quickly came and went. Lily and James told James' parents about Lily's pregnancy. Mrs. Potter was delighted and immediately started giving Lily more advice then she could handle, which was fairly strange for her. Mr. Potter took James aside and made sure he knew what he was getting into. When James and persuaded his dad that he and Lily knew what they were doing Mr. Potter seemed a lot more pleased. Lily had asked if the Potter's house elf would help make the dinner and Christmas Dinner was the best one Lily had eaten ever. They had all their friends round, Remus, April, Sirius and Peter. Lily felt a pang of guilt and heartbreak over the fact that her parents weren't there.
This didn't last long as the next day she, James and April went to the cemetery where Lily's parents were buried. Snow littered the floor with tufts of grass poking through the snow. The snow looked fresh but a set of footprints led to the EVANS grave. As the three passed a tree Lily saw two figures by a grey marble tombstone. One of them Lily knew all to well. Her sister Petunia, the other was a man with a fairly bulky body and beefy hands. He turned slightly and said something to Petunia, his bristly moustache twitching as he talked. He was Petunia's husband, Vernon Dursley.
"We should come back another day" Lily said starting to turn around.
"No Lily," James said. He gave her a reassuring smile and took her hand. Lily frowned and looked at April.
"You have to face her sometime." April said. Lily's frown deepened and she started for the grave. The snow crunched underfoot as they walked towards the grave. Petunia heard and turned around. Her eyes narrowed when she saw Lily. Lily noticed that Petunia's stomach was slightly bumped and she wasn't as thin as she usually was. Petunia must be pregnant as well.
"What are you doing here?" she spat at Lily.
"We share parents." Lily said. "So I have a right to be here as well." Petunia glared at James and April before turning back to Lily.
"Please don't remind me." Petunia said coldly. Lily crouched on the floor and conjured a rose and put it on the snow. As she did this Petunia let out a small squeak and Vernon seemed to be going slightly red. Lily felt tears at her eyes and wiped them away.
"I miss you." She whispered before standing up. James pulled her into a hug and Petunia glared at them even more.
"Still with…him then?" she asked like they were all filth, which in Petunia's world, they were.
"Yes." Lily said. "We married actually so we no longer share a surname, something I know you'll love." Petunia gave her an evil smirk.
"At long last." Petunia said. "I can finally forget that I have a freak sister like you. You and all your freak friends and your good for nothing husband." Lily put her hand in James' pocket and held his hand. His hand was clenched around his wand and the last thing Lily wanted was her husband jinxing her sister
"I think we should go." Lily said quietly.
"Yes I think you should." Petunia said. "I never want to see you again. Not near my family, you're not going to do the same thing to my family as you did to our family. You killed our parents. It's your fault." Lily choked down tears of anger and hurt. She turned quickly and walked off towards where James, April and herself had apparated into the graveyard. James followed her concerned.
"You know, for a sister you could be at least a little nicer" April said. "You know my sister doesn't like me but at least she's nice."
"I haven't got a sister." Petunia said. She sounded very offended at being addressed by April. "So why don't you run off and join your pathetic little friend and tell her to stay away from my husband and child." April gave her a smirk.
"Oh, you'd like that wouldn't you?" April asked. "Well, guess what, you're going to be an aunt so I wouldn't forget Lily so quickly." If Petunia was surprised she didn't show it.
"About time she was pregnant, running around with filth like that Potter." Petunia said, "No get lost May or I'll call the police."
"April!" April snapped back. She walked off after Lily and James and found them on a bench quite far away in the middle of the cemetery. Lily was crying into James' coat and he had his arms around her.
"Lily?" April asked. Lily sat up properly and wiped her eyes.
"This is stupid." She muttered. "I hate her as well."
"No, I know you still love her despite everything." James said, "she is your sister and you didn't kill anyone." April nodded to that statement. It was clear Lily still cared for her sister, no matter what Lily had told herself.
"Come on, lets get back to your house. It's nice warm and no reminder of any of this muggle life." April said helping Lily up. Lily nodded and got her wand out to apparate.

A few months later Lily still hadn't forgotten what Petunia had said. Every time she thought of it she felt emotional and James was starting to wonder if Lily was right in the head when in fact Lily's hormones were going a bit wild due to her pregnancy. Lily's life had gone from bad to worse since Christmas. More people had 'complained' about Lily, Lily knew it was because they knew she was muggle-born and even though she worked in Muggle relations many people didn't want her working there. Lily was getting continually frustrated with this and the fact that no one would tell her exactly why she was being put through this enquiry.
"Evans, can you please come to my office?" Fredrick Izadora said passing Lily's office. "Now Evans." Lily got up and followed Fredrick Izadora to his office, it wasn't that much bigger the Lily's but it was very slightly bigger and had a few more windows. Today it was raining, Lily had spoken to one of the maintenance workers and it had turned out that Voldemort had killed his sister.
"What is it Fred?" Lily said. Fred looked at Lily seriously and sat down. He indicated for Lily to sit down, which she did gratefully, she was starting to feel a little of the weight of the pregnancy.
"Lily, please understand that what I am about to say is not my decision but from the higher powers, namely my bosses." Fredrick Izadora said frankly, "I know you are pregnant and would like to work until you have given birth and I would be more then willing to let you work but I'm afraid that the enquiry board feels that you should quit your job now or be forced to leave. I am very sorry Lily." He said. Lily was slightly surprised by this, though she didn't know why.
"Are all the muggle born witches and wizards being treated like this?" Lily asked calmly. This unnerved Fredrick Izadora and he frowned.
"Well, most have gone into hiding or have given up their wands. But just between us" Fredrick Izadora's voice dropped several decibels, "it is happening to all the muggle borns, the deputy minister doesn't like them and I believe that he is a follower of the dark lord though I'm not entirely sure." His voice went back up to it's usual pitch, "I'm very sorry Lily." Lily took a deep breath and slowly got to her feet.
"When do I have to leave by?" Lily asked.
"They want you out by lunch." Her boss said. Lily nodded and headed back out of the office. "I'm sorry Potter." He said again. Lily turned to look at him and gave him a slight smile as he finally called her Potter instead of Evans then went to her own office. She slammed the door shut and turned angrily to her desk. This was discrimination all because her parents weren't magic.
"Evanesco" Lily said pointing her want at her desk. Everything on her desk that belonged to her vanished and she was left with a bare and empty desk, if no one wanted her, fine! At least Lily would be able to spend more time with her baby when it was born. Lily turned and opened the door to find Manny standing in the doorway. He frowned.
"Where's all your stuff?" He asked.
"I've been fired." Lily said. She pushed past him and headed towards the elevator.
"But you can't be fired, you're the only one that the muggle Prime minister will talk to. And you're the best person here." Many said scowling.
"Well, obviously the enquiry board don't see it that way." Lily said. She waited for the elevator.
"So where are you going now?" Manny asked.
"Home, where else?" Lily said. They both got into the elevator when it arrived. A few owls flitted around the elevator and a couple of feathers floated down into Lily's hair. Manny quickly plucked them out before Lily could bat his hand away.
"Is that it? Aren't you going to put up any fight or anything?" Manny asked. His usual cockiness was gone.
"Nope, it's clear they don't want me and I need to spend some time at home anyway. Start getting the house ready for the baby." Manny nodded.
"My sister just had a baby, she hates the fact that her son was born into such dark times" Manny decided to tell Lily. Lily normally didn't mind Manny's company but today her temper was running a little short. The elevator stopped at the atrium of the Ministry of magic. From here Lily apparated back home before Manny could say anything else. Lily had always put up with stick from, at first, the Slytherins at Hogwarts and now the world where Voldemort and his ideas of pure-blood witches and wizard was taking over. Lily, in her fury, blasted a vase that was on top of the fireplace in the living room with her wand and sat down angrily. She couldn't wait until James got home to calm her down. It was still quite a few hours until that happened so Lily picked up the most recent book she'd been reading and tried to get back into the world of her book.

Voldemort sat and thought about his plans for a while, he had been so busy initiating them and making sure that they were followed he hadn't had time to do anything else. Most of the time he dwelled on the prophecy that one of his deatheaters overheard. A child with the power to destroy him. He needed to kill the Potters soon, before their child was born but every time he tried they seemed to eluding him. Even his Imperius curse hadn't been enough to kill Lily. If Lily had been killed Voldemort had been assured that James would kill himself. Lily had escaped with her mudblood loving friend over a year ago, she'd escaped again at downing street. James had fought off his deatheaters in his seventh year and he was too powerful for Voldemort's curse. He needed to think of a way to kill them quickly. Voldemort looked at a small tattoo like symbol on his arm and touched it. His deatheaters would come and he could tell them his new plan.
