Meeting the Menace

A The Chrysanthemum Chronicles Series Story

Elsewhere In The Stramesville Area

Stramesville, Muramiskayo, Ozotov IV

September 18, 986

While Zoisite, Malachite, and Jeddite's groups headed toward where they thought Nephlyte's group would most likely be, Serenity and others with her had often been training in the Stramesville area with each other. In the meantime, the Crystals of Orisinia had allowed Serena, Destiny, and Bethany to each gain certain powers for themselves. And gain them at least on a temporary basis, if not a permanent basis. That was the case for them all, in fact. Even though Serenity hadn't also done the same through the Crystals that were now in her own mirror.

In order for the three Moon-born Princesses to be able to use those certain new powers of theirs, they'd most likely have to be powered up. Because, otherwise, they'd most likely not have those powers at their disposal. That was because the crystals that'd be allowing them to use those powers would, at least on a temporary basis, require them to be sufficiently powerful. That was due to the fact that they'd often demand a lot of energy and concentration from the users of such powers. At least on that basis.

Serena had gained from the crystals in her mirror two powers. Destiny had gained from the ones in her mirror four powers. And Bethany had gained from the ones in her mirror three powers. One of the powers that Serena had gained for her use, at least on a temporary basis, would require the simultaneous use of that same power by both of her sisters. But the other one wouldn't. When she was Moon, she'd be able to call for another kind of attack without her sisters' assistance as either Corona or Eclipse, as the case might be for each of them. That power she could wield all by herself was the power to call forth a Silver Moon Star Blast. Which she could use to blast no more than about 100 or so enemies at the same time, under most conditions she might ever face in battle. At least while she had that power still at her disposal through the Crystals now in her mirror.

The other power that they'd given her at least on a temporary basis would require the simultaneous use of it, as she used it, by Corona and Eclipse. And that power could be called for by them saying, in the exact order of their births to Serenity and Daniel, "Moon Sister Power." That'd most likely allow them to generate various items of at least some use to themselves. If not to any other people as well, at any time. At least while they were all using that very power. This certain power was so powerful in its nature, that it'd probably always require them to pool their powers to at least some degree whenever they used it as Scouts. That was because none of the sisters could currently supply enough power to call for its use all by herself, if they'd ever be able to do that. Not even if they were in their most powerful Scout states at such times, could any of them provide enough power for it to be available for themselves without their sisters' assistance. At least not right now in each of their lives, by the way. And because it was so powerful, it'd probably require most of its power to come from Serena. That was due to the simple fact that she was the oldest of the three Princesses from the Moon. This power, whenever they'd use it, would often last either until they could no longer use it at a particular time, or until they decided not to use it at such times. If the latter was the case, they could voluntarily cease to use that power, at least as of the current time. And do it by saying, also in the same order that they'd called for it, "Moon Sister Power Exit." Which'd then return all the remaining power they'd set aside for its use to their energy stores. The same thing would most likely also happen if they involuntarily ceased to use that power. But if that happened, that might then cause them all to be at least a little bit weaker than if they'd dropped out of that power willingly.

As for Destiny, not only had she gotten the aforementioned Moon Sister Power for herself through the Crystals in her mirror, but she'd also gotten three other powers from them. One she could only use at the current time with Bethany, when Bethany was Eclipse, and while she was Corona. And that power could be called forth by them both when they said, "Twin Heart Star Power." Also in the exact order of their births to their own parents Serenity and Daniel, for that matter. The other two powers were two attacks of different kinds. One of them was her new Solar Wind Blast attack. And the other was her new Solar Flare Strike attack. And they didn't require her to have the assistance of any other Scout. At least not under most circumstances that she might ever have to deal with if and when she ever had to fight other beings with them in the future. Unlike either her Twin Heart Star Power or her Moon Sister Power.

Her new Twin Heart Star Power that she'd have to use with Eclipse would allow her to generate chains made of many pink hearts linked by numerous white stars. Which she could then use to bind, trip, or attack any number of her opponents. Or which she could use to help anyone she knew well enough, as she saw fit to use them. And those same things would, of course, all be true, as well, for Eclipse whenever she used that power with Corona. As with her use of Moon Sister Power with Moon and Eclipse, she'd not be able to use that power all by herself. That was for the very same reasons that she, Moon, or Eclipse wouldn't be able to use their Moon Sister Power all by themselves without their sisters' assistance. However, she could normally provide at least sixty percent of the power required in order for her and Eclipse to use their new Twin Heart Star Power, most likely. And she'd most likely have to do that most of the time, if not all of it. That was due to the fact that she was the older of the two twin daughters of Serenity and Daniel, of course.

Her new Solar Wind Blast power could be used to atomically bombard any number of her opponents with it, if she wanted to attack them with it at least once. She could use it as long as she chose to use it. Supposing, of course, that she was strong enough to be able to do so. But that didn't mean that she could use it without her having to worry about it regenerating itself. Like any of her other powers, whether she shared them with other Scouts or not, and like any other Scouts' powers, she'd periodically not have such a power at her disposal. Even while she had the crystal or crystals that let her use that power in her current possession, that'd be the case for her sometimes, for the obvious reasons, of course. And as long as she had the crystal or crystals required for use of such a power, that'd likely still be the case for her, whether she liked it or not.

Her other new power that she'd gotten from at least one of the Crystals now in her mirror was her new Solar Flare Strike attack. She'd generate spikes much like solar flares, and then send them toward any number of enemies opposing her and others near her. As with most, if not all, of her other powers, such an attack would periodically have to be in a non-active state, for the obvious reasons. At least as long as she was currently in possession of at least one of the crystals now in her own mirror. But at least she could still use that attack against other people without the assistance of either or both of her sisters. Or without the assistance of any other Scout of any kind that was currently with her on Ozotov IV. Which made her quite happy, for all the obvious reasons, of course.

As for Bethany, in the meantime, she'd gained three different powers that she could use whenever she was Eclipse. Two would require her to pool her powers at least partly, if not totally, with at least one, if not both, of her sisters. But the other power wouldn't. That power that she'd be able to use all by herself, at least in most cases, if not all the time, was her new Night Owl Storm attack. That was at least as long as she retained possession of the necessary crystal or crystals from the Crystals of Orisinia, anyway. And unlike her Twin Heart Star Power or Moon Sister Power attacks, she'd most likely not require any help from either or both of her sisters to use that particular power of hers. If and when she ever used such an attack in the future, she'd generate many night owls. And those night owls would attack as many of her opponents in battle as they could attack at any time. They'd do that by using at least their claws and beaks, if not also their wings, in fact. As long as she was still able to use it, and was still willing to use it, that'd likely remain the case for her. At least during any battle that she might use that power of hers in against any number of her opponents, if at all possible, by the way.

If the Scouts weren't actually helped out at all in their first battle by enough Ozotovians, then they'd probably need every power and/or item that they could possibly get to use in it. They did hope, though, that if they all had to fight anyone in the very near future, they'd all have at least a little help in that battle or those battles. If not a lot of help in that battle or in those battles from other people as well, anyway. Most especially Serena, of course. Serena hoped that they'd have at least a little help in fighting against the Negaverse from at least 10,000 or so natives of Ozotov IV. But she also realized that might not turn out to be the case.

In the meantime, before that battle or those battles would find them, Serena and all her non-feline companions trained just as often as they could do that well enough. Even if they didn't really like the idea of having to do so quite often, they still did so. Even Serena.

When they weren't all training with each other, or waiting for their next fight to come to them, they all patrolled periodically in Stramesville's local area. Or they all often spent time with each other, so that they could all get better acquainted with each other in their respective lives. Or they all either slept or ate, if they weren't doing anything else in them at such times.

Amy, for instance, often spent time either reading at least one of her available scrolls or carving some of her wood blocks, as she saw fit, whenever she could do either or both of those things. And she often enjoyed doing so, whenever she could do either or both of those things.

Michelle often played her violin or she painted, whenever she wasn't otherwise occupied. In her free time, what there was of it, she often painted scenes of nearby locations that she'd seen while training or patrolling in the Stramesville local area. And she'd already turned out at least two paintings since she and the rest of her current companions had first come to Yoshimo's house some time before.

Lita often did a lot of the cooking for herself and her current companions. Frequently using various items from Yoshimo's food stores that he'd made available to them all for their consumption as often as needed. And she'd occasionally make up at least a few dessert items whenever she actually did so. Which most likely pleased Serena, at the very least, if not also any of her other current companions, quite a bit.

Several of the girls often wanted to shop in the local area. But Serenity wouldn't let them do so. However, she did promise them a shopping trip before they left Ozotov IV, if the situation ever permitted it. But she did say that in order for them to do that, they'd have to make sure that it was safe enough for them to do that. And because they all now knew that Negaversers were indisputably on Ozotov IV now, they'd not be able to go shopping until those Negaversers were all gone, or until they were all dead. Serena didn't like having to wait at all to go shopping anywhere on Ozotov IV, of course. But she realized that other business had to be attended to first. That was so that they'd not have to worry about it when they finally were able to go shopping anywhere on Ozotov IV. And she wasn't the only one, of course. Raye, Destiny, Bethany, Lita, and Susan, at least, shared similar, if not the exact same, sentiments about wanting to go shopping some time before they left Ozotov IV, if possible. But they still realized that any potentially possible shopping trip would have to wait for a while.

Little did they know that they'd likely have to fight any number of Negaversers somewhere between Stramesville and Sosatoville. But if that ever became the case for them, at least, they'd most certainly learn that soon enough. If not for any other people not from the Negaverse as well, for that matter. However, that still might not happen for at least a little while.

And little did they know that they'd likely be meeting Darien and his fellow Terrans around the time of the battle, if not during it. For he wasn't yet near enough to where they were for them to find and meet up with him and his fellow Terrans. Sure, they knew that he was now with two other young people from Earth elsewhere in Muramiskayo. But they didn't know exactly where he and them were in it. And they didn't know if and when they'd all actually ever see him again in person. Not just in other ways that they could conceivably see him again besides just seeing him again in person. Most especially Serena, of course.

They hoped that if they had to fight, they'd be able to fight well enough in any of their future battles. And that they'd all be able to survive each of those battles. Even though they knew that might not actually turn out to be the case. Either for any of them, or for all of them, if any or all of their other future enemies were too strong for them to beat in the future when they'd fight them, anyway. Even Serena, who'd have likely preferred not to know that.

I suppose that I'd better stop here now. For this will be where the next part of the story will take up from, in fact, readers. I hope that you have so far enjoyed the story, if you've gotten this far, and that you'll all continue to read it. I don't know yet how just long it'll take me to get each story in this series up fully here. But it might take a while for each story in this series, just the same. Until later, then, this is "The Universal Storyteller" signing off here. Happy reading, and God bless, and all that, of course, readers! Over and out!
