Meeting the Menace
A The Chrysanthemum Chronicles Series Story
Somewhere In The Sosatoville Area
Sosatoville, Muramiskayo, Ozotov IV
September 22, 986 - September 23, 986
Several days later, at most, Darien and Rolando were with Sylvia near Sosatoville, Muramiskayo. They were a place at least a dozen miles away from Stramesville. That was based on what the three of them could now tell well enough after looking over at least one map that'd been in Darien's possession for a while, in fact. And they were nearing an inn in the Sosatoville area. It was late in the afternoon there, at least right now, for all of them. Sylvia was riding between Darien and Rolando. A storm was blowing in from the east, as they headed down a side road toward Sosatoville. They'd hoped to be able to catch the road directly toward Stramesville. But a tornado that'd just passed through the general area of those roads had caused one of them to become quite blocked for at least a little while. If not a long while. Though not before all the surviving Negaversers still on Ozotov IV had actually passed through the area, as they might later find out. Once they had to fight them, of course.
It was about two or three hours before local dusk would likely arrive in the Muramiskayon area that they were now in, at most. They'd already passed the place elsewhere in Muramiskayo that Nephlyte and his group of Negaversers had earlier camped in while it was still split off from all the other Negaversers now on Ozotov IV.
When they'd arrived in that place, Darien did a little bit of searching for signs of recent passage in it not obviously left by those who were Ozotovians. And he spotted at least a few buttons from any number of uniforms that the remaining Negaversers were evidently wearing. For they'd somehow fallen off for various reasons that were most likely too numerous for him to figure out easily enough. He collected at least a few of those buttons, and studied them for at least a few minutes each, as he saw fit. Then he stored them all away in his things, of course. Then he led his two companions down the road that'd lead them eventually to Sosatoville. He then did that so they'd hopefully all get to a suitable enough inn in its local area, before it was too dark for them to do so safely enough.
They then spent most of the time remaining before local dawn in going to the Sosatoville area. And in getting to a suitable enough inn there, before it was too late for them to do that. They soon checked into that inn. And they then spent at least the next few hours, in the area of that inn. If not the next few days, at least.
That night, Sylvia had a dream about her friends and family back on Earth. And about a number of other people she already knew, or might ever know someday, in her own mortal life, at least, as well. If not also about any number of strange people. This dream was of a time possibly at least a month or so down the line. If not even later than that. And it wasn't a very pleasant dream, as she'd most likely tell any other people in her life, eventually, in the future, if she ever got the chance to do so.
Her parents said, in this dream, quite frequently, "If you don't decide to stop running away every chance you get, don't bother coming back here, Sylvia Wakefield. For if you're not going to do what we feel you should be doing at this time, don't bother coming back until you decide to do so. Now your siblings want to run away too, and not stay near us. Just because you run away so often."
She often said, "I run away so often because you often want me to stay in one place longer than it's necessary for me to be in such a place. I like going many places here in our world. And that's never going to change. Even if I ever get married someday."
"Then you may never get married someday, Sylvia."
"Oh, I'll get married. But I won't marry any of the people from around here, if I can possibly avoid it. I'd rather stay a virgin for the rest of my life than to marry any of them in it."
"You may very well do that, if you don't ever happen to shape up at all, Sylvia. But if you don't quit running away so often, you'll eventually be no longer welcome, at least as long as you do so, around us. And that, of course, will then be your choice. But we won't let you cause your siblings to do the same them, if we can possibly avoid it, Sylvia. Especially if they're younger than you are, Sylvia Wakefield."
"So what? I don't really care right now. I'm not going to be your slave forever, you two. And I'm not going to let you actually make my siblings your slaves either, if I can possibly avoid it. You just want me and them around to work for you so much. So that you don't have to do anything you don't want to. You may out-rank us at the moment. But when we get old enough, if we're not already old enough, we intend to serve King Isaac and Queen Rachel as high-ranking governmental officials, if we possibly can. That is, of course, if any or all of us don't want to do anything else in the rest of our lives instead."
"You may now be about thirteen or so years old, Sylvia. But if you leave this next time, then you might as well take your siblings with you. For they're too much like you, come to think of it. If you must go, then take your troublesome siblings with you, and don't come back anytime soon. If that means we never see any of you ever again, then so be it. But we'll not support any rebellious children of ours any longer, if we don't have to. Don't come back again, then, if you leave here, until you and your siblings can shape up sufficiently well to please us, Sylvia Lucille Wakefield. If you and your siblings can't behave appropriately enough to please us, then you'll all no longer be welcome here or on any other land under our control, if possible. The doors of Wakefield Castle will be closed to any or all of you. That's f you can't behave well enough to please us all in your respective lives. At least as long as either or both of us are still alive in this world of ours. That is, of course, if you and/or your siblings leave here like you often like to do, Sylvia."
"So be it. But we'll not live with you if you can't be fair enough to us in each of our own respective lives. Go ahead and be mean to us, if you wish. But it won't be our loss if you do so, and we leave here all together. It'll be yours. For you won't be able to count on our support for you both in your old age, if either or both of you somehow live long enough to reach old age. That's if you actually send us away from here, you two. Unless, of course, you change your ways before it's too late. I'm not going to quit traveling, as long as I'm somehow still able to do that in my life. No matter what. Even if it means I'll never marry, or if I marry someone else you two have never even heard about so far in your lives."
Time passed quite rapidly in that dream of hers, until she was apparently about two years or so older than she was actually now in her own mortal life, at least. She was now about fourteen years or so old in the dream, and she was with all three of her siblings. They were about to depart the lands under the control of her parents. And they were joining a caravan to one of the Israelite cities on the Mediterranean Sea. Which'd be Tripoli, in the Israelite province of West Libya. And it'd leave from the Jerusalem area of Israel. She was now saying to her parents in her dream, "This is your last chance, Prince Nigel and Princess Esther, to convince us all to stay here, instead of leaving here all together. Will you both treat us as we all deserve to be treated by you both. Or will you refuse to do so, and quite possibly lose our services for a long time, if not forever?"
"No, because you four haven't changed your ways in the last few years. So why should we expect you all to change them in the very near future?"
"Very well. Just remember, it's your loss, then, if you don't have any or all of us with you here in Jerusalem anymore, or not for at least a while. You just had your chance to convince us all to stay. But now that you've made your choice, don't expect us to come back to help you anytime soon, if ever again."
"For all we care, you four could just go to the Moon forever, if at all possible."
"As you wish. If we get to the Nipponese Empire, we may just do that. But if we do, you'll never likely see any of us again at all in your lives. However, we'll still be royals from Israel if that happens to become the case for any or all of us. At least the Nipponese royals won't likely treat us all like you two have often treated us since we were each born to you two, if not others as well."
Then Sylvia left the lands under her parents' current control with her three siblings as part of the trading caravan, of course. Her dream flashed forward yet again. And in the next part of it, she and all three of her siblings were now in Japan, visiting with Darien and a number of other people there. In that part of her dream, it was just before he was due to leave for the Moon again on one of his trips to there, in fact.
She and her siblings had apparently traveled in a journey lasting a total of a few months, at the most, after they'd left the Jerusalem area with the trading caravan. Most, if not all, of the cargo from that very trading caravan had been placed rather quickly, rather efficiently, and rather safely, on various ships in a trading fleet of at least two dozen ships. All which were bound for the Nipponese cities of Osaka, Yokohama, and Kobe. And they were asking about his friends who were currently on the Moon. Especially Sylvia, of course.
She asked Darien, "Do you remember when we helped each other out shortly after we first met each other a long way away from here?"
"Yes, Sylvia, I do. That was some first battle of ours, but at least they weren't from the Negaverse like the others we eventually faced some considerable length of time later. You and Rolando sure handled each other quite well in it, and you were quite helpful to me during it, Sylvia."
"Well, Rolando and I are both quite glad that we survived that battle against the Yonishikians a few years ago, of course. And we're now seeing each other as often as we can. At least in a romantic sense, if not in any other sense as well."
"Might I be hearing wedding bells for you two anytime in the near future?"
"Not likely. Don't forget, Darien, we still have to worry about the Negaverse for at least a little while longer, I'm sure. They'll be back to bother us at least once more, I believe. Most especially if we're anywhere in the Moon Kingdom. Like I think you'd like to be as often as you possibly can. That's for all the obvious reasons."
"Well, we did actually handle that first adventure of ours quite well, given the current circumstances at the time, didn't we, Sylvia?"
"Yes, I suppose so."
Then she saw herself conversing with Darien and others with both of them currently in her dream, for at least a little while longer, while she slept quite soundly. This she did, at least until the dream eventually ended, of course. This was for all the obvious reasons.
The dream ended about an hour or so before local dawn, after which she soon woke up while it was still dark outside her room in the inn. She rose from her bed, and quite quickly dressed in all her necessary clothes. For she had a strange feeling that something major was about to happen in the immediate area of the inn. Especially since she'd heard a strange series of noises somewhere outside her own room in it.
She quite hastily put her suit of armor on all by herself. Then she grabbed up her bow and a full quiver of recently-made arrows, as well as a sword in its scabbard, which she'd found in a tree roughly two days before. She did that here so that she could defend herself to the best of her current abilities to do so, if the need ever arose for her at the current time, of course. She was in her suit of armor in five minutes, at most. And within the next five or ten minutes after that, she'd put her quiver and her scabbard on. Even while her scabbard was still holding her most recently-acquired sword in it, she then did so. She also held her bow in her left hand, as she exited her room in the inn through its main door, for that matter.
She hurried out of her room and out of the inn, knocking on both of her respective companions' doors, as she did so. She said, "Hurry up, guys, for there may be trouble near here somewhere. And I might need your help to deal with it." She didn't wait for a reply, as she hurried out of the inn as quickly and as safely as she could, in order to see what was now going on outside it.
Very cautiously, she began searching for who or what had apparently been making the strange noises somewhere outside her room in the inn. She soon found out that an obvious native of Ozotov IV had been making those noises in it. This native had apparently been trying to catch a few fish for his breakfast in a nearby pool of water. As soon as she realized that, she began whistling in a certain pattern, as she saw fit. Answering whistles in two slightly different patterns somewhat similar to the one she'd just used soon reached her ears shortly after she did so. Of course, they were both from her Prince-level companions. For they were the only ones who'd actually understood what she'd just said to them both through her just-ended whistling pattern.
She then helped him finish catching enough fish that'd apparently be for his breakfast some length of time later. Sylvia did this after first watching how he tried to catch them under the now-lightening sky near the inn. She soon did everything that she saw him doing. And she soon helped him stow them away in a sack on his belt. By the time she'd finished doing that, Darien and Rolando were next to her by that pool.
She said, "This native was trying to catch some fish. And that's why I heard some strange noises from somewhere outside my room in the inn. I helped him catch at least a few more for his breakfast, if that's what he was trying to catch them for."
The native of Ozotov IV then looked at Darien, Rolando, and Sylvia for a moment, before he handed a crystal to each of them. This crystal was almost exactly like the one that Yoshimo had handed to Sentinel Serenity quite some time before, in fact. As he did so, he showed them each how to hold it. After which they soon began to understand what he was now saying to them near the inn they were all currently staying at.
The native was now saying to them all, "I'm Prince Yoshimo Toskukachi of Muramiskayo. I suppose that you must be the Terrans Prince Darien, Prince Rolando, and Princess Sylvia."
Prince Darien asked, seconds later, "How do you know all of our names, Prince Yoshimo Toskukachi?"
"I've seen you all in recent dreams and visions of mine. And I've also encountered a number of other people you might already know of in your own life, Darien. They were brought to this world in much the same way that you and your two companions each were. If not exactly the same way that you each were brought to this world."
"Oh?"
"Do you know a Queen Serenity, Prince Darien?"
"Yes. But how do you know her?"
"She came to my residence about two of your weeks ago. And she wasn't alone. She came with several others, Prince Darien."
"I see. How are they?"
"Last time I saw them all in person, they were just fine. That was at least a few days ago, though. I've also seen signs of Negaversers being on my world of late."
"As have I, at least." This, of course, from Darien.
"They originally came with well over 200,000 of their kinds of beings, from what I could learn about them all. But now they're down to about 75,000 beings of numerous kinds. I know that because I have contacts all over this nation of mine that tell me so, Darien. I expect that your friends will have to fight them in the very near future between here and Stramesville, from which I now hail in my country."
"Were they in their respective Scout states the last time you saw them all?"
"Not all of them. Only Queen Serenity, Moon Princess Serena, Princess Destiny, and Princess Bethany were in at least one of their respective Scout states. If not more than one, Darien."
"Which states were they each in?"
"Queen Serenity was in her first-power state as Royal Sailor Serenity. While Serena, Destiny, and Bethany were in their respective Scout states as the Junior Sailors Moon, Corona, and Eclipse. At least as the case was for each of them, anyway, while I was still with them some time ago."
"Who else is with them now, as far as you know, then, Prince Yoshimo?"
"Princesses Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, Susan, Alexis, Michelle, and Hannah, as well as the cats Luna and Artemis, of course. I suppose you know all of them, don't you, Darien?"
"Yes, I do. Though I don't know the last four of the Princesses very well at all, I know who they are."
Yoshimo eventually asked, after he got at least a little bit acquainted with each of his current companions, "Sylvia, are you wanting to go back to Israel anytime in the near future?" This he then asked just as dawn finally arrived in the area of Stramesville, Muramiskayo, on Ozotov IV's Marzotekan landmass.
"Perhaps. But I won't likely want to spend my entire life there, if I don't absolutely have to, Prince Yoshimo. Do you want to spend the rest of your life in Stramesville, if you don't have to?" asked Sylvia.
"No, Sylvia. I'd rather see my brother Prince Murumu rule my nation quite wisely. With me often by his side as he does so, than to spend the rest of my life in exile away from him and so many other people in my life. That's if I can possibly do the former, instead of the latter, in it, of course."
"That's logical, Prince Yoshimo. But how are you going to take care of your current problem with the usurper of your nation's throne?" asked Darien.
"Well, I believe that's no real problem. That's just so long as the Scouts keep complete control over all the Crystals well enough and for a long enough time. You see, if they do so, then they might very well be able to have others help them against any opponents that they might have to face while they're still here on my world. And as long as that's the case, then the usurper and his forces can't use the powers and items that come with those Crystals as they might ever want to use them, of course. Most especially the so-called Emperor Tosunekaro, for all the obvious enough reasons, Darien."
"I see. So if my friends can hold them long enough, then maybe your brother, you, and many others now in exile anywhere, might someday be able to assert your legitimate claim to rule at least Muramiskayo. If not any other nation here on this landmass, as well."
"Correct, Darien. That's absolutely right, at the current time. That's at least as far as I can now tell, in my own mortal life here on my own world, anyway."
"I see. Is there a chance that we can see my friends anytime soon?" asked Darien.
"I'd have to think about that for a while. You see, I have to visit at least a few other people, before I can tell you one way or the other to a sufficient enough degree. In any case, though, if things go sufficiently well for you three Terrans, your friends, and for enough Ozotovians, you might be able to do that, somehow, soon enough. That's if things go sufficiently well for us all in the meantime, by the way. God willing, of course, Darien."
"Very well, then, Prince Yoshimo. I don't like it, though."
"Do you want the Negaversers who are now still alive on my world to link you with the Sailor Scouts anytime in the very near future, Darien?"
"No, I guess not. So what do you suggest, then, Prince Yoshimo?"
"Stay where you've been staying at least the last night, until I say otherwise, if possible, Darien. When I want you all to leave this place, then I'll certainly let you know somehow. Hopefully by telling you in person. Supposing, of course, that you're not forced to leave it before I do so. I'll now be heading back toward Amazuru for at least a little while. I need to see if I can muster enough forces under the control of either my brother or me, if not both of us. That's so that several, if not all, of the Crystals that are now in Serenity's possession will hopefully work sufficiently well in the near future. You see, with the crystals that Serenity currently has, she might very well be able to call forth any number of people from all the places represented by all the Crystals. And then those people would hopefully all fight against any or all of the Negaversers still alive anywhere on my world. She hasn't used them yet to do anything at all. But her three daughters have apparently been practicing quite a bit, at least of late, with various powers and items that crystals now in their possible have recently given them. This is from what I can currently tell through my most recent visions and dreams. At least ones that relate sufficiently well to any, or all, of her three daughters, by the way."
Yoshimo talked a little while longer with his Terran companions about a number of other things, before he parted somewhat reluctantly on all their parts from them. That was so that he could attend to other things that he likely had to do anytime in the very near future. He left rather silently, after gathering up all his things as quickly as he could, of course. The three Terrans watched him go. And they soon returned to their rooms in the inn, often talking among themselves as they did so.
By now, it was almost midday in the local area of Sosatoville. They bided their time with each other quite often. At least for the rest of the current daylight hours in the Sosatoville area of Muramiskayo on Ozotov IV's Marzotekan landmass, anyway. They at least occasionally practiced their fighting tactics with each other before it began to get too dark for them to do so that very day. After which, they eventually retired to their respective rooms in the inn. And they soon went to sleep in them again, of course.
I suppose that I'd better stop here now. For this will be where the next part of the story will take up from, in fact, readers. I hope that you have so far enjoyed the story, if you've gotten this far, and that you'll all continue to read it. I don't know yet how just long it'll take me to get each story in this series up fully here. But it might take a while for each story in this series, just the same. Until later, then, this is "The Universal Storyteller" signing off here. Happy reading, and God bless, and all that, of course, readers! Over and out!
