CHAPTER 10: Tokio's Resistance
Tokio clutched the wakizashi that she held in her hand even harder. She gulped.
"There isn't anyway you can win, Tokio," Chuichi said. "I want you to come with us. That way, Saito can watch you be tortured and killed. He'll want the same fate, I'm sure!" Tokio narrowed her eyes. They wanted to make her suffer so that her Hajime would! She wouldn't let that happen.
"No, I'm not coming peacefully if that's what you were thinking!" Tokio yelled angrily. She settled her body into a Gatotsu stance.
"You're not?" Chuichi asked, surprised. "I was sure you'd want to see him again after nearly a week and a half of his unannounced absence!" Tokio shook her head, though she found that he was right. She did want to see Saito again. She wanted to be held like the other countless nights that they had spent together. She missed his warmth, his arms wrapping around her body and his lips against hers. Tokio grimaced. She'd fight this fight for him. And if she just happened to die...
"I'm giving you one last chance to run!" Tokio snapped at the surrounding men. They all sniggered and closed in.
"Sorry, little girl," one of the men said. "It appears that we'll just have to... take you by force..." Tokio braced herself. It was sure that she would lose if they stayed in this cramped room... She dashed for the opening that had been cut down and used one of the men's heads as a spring to propel herself into the garden. They all turned to her.
"Come get me!" Tokio shouted and dashed off toward an unknown destination. The men all looked at each other, then stampeded after her. She took off down the street and toward the street, then thought better of it and turned down the road toward the fields. If she had turned into the city, people would surely get hurt. She heard yells behind her, but she just kept running.
Now that Hajime's alive, I have something to live for! Tokio thought desperately as she darted into the grass. I've got to stay alive! Tokio turned down another road toward the river to try and shake them off. But the men behind her wouldn't stop the chase. They had been given a mission that they wouldn't back down from. They were told to capture her dead or alive.

Eiji shrunk away from the man. He had a bloody nose and lip and quite a few bruises all over his body.
A few bruises and I'm already down! Eiji thought angrily to himself. I shouldn't be so weak... I should be more like Saito-san... but... He squeezed his eyes shut. The man who had taken him had somehow gotten away from Kenshin and was now trying to beat Eiji into unconsciousness. The ninja tossed a punch, which met its target on Eiji's cheek, and Eiji flew backwards. He landed in a heap on the floor.
"Just give up, kid!" the ninja yelled. Eiji coughed and wiped blood from his mouth onto his sleeve, standing up.
"Why are you trying to hurt me?" Eiji demanded for the third time. The ninja gave him another punch and Eiji collapsed again.
"Your father is with our group and we want to kill you in front of his eyes!" the ninja yelled, giving Eiji a kick to the gut. Eiji rolled over and curled into a fetal position. Suddenly, his eyes popped open.
"Saito-san... is... still..." Eiji gasped. The ninja's toe hit his eye and he rolled again. All his muscles ached and he was tired.
"Yes," the ninja said. "But he won't be for long." The ninja started to laugh. Eiji lay on the floor for a while. Then, there was a shadow cast over the alleyway that they were in.
"You will not hurt this child anymore, that you won't," a familiar voice said. Eiji looked up weakly and saw a shorter, longhaired figure holding a sakabatou.
"HIMURA... BATTOUSAI..." the ninja gasped. Kenshin jumped down.
"What is your name?" Kenshin asked. The ninja backed away.
"Hiro... fumi..." the ninja said, sweating. Kenshin shook his head.
"You're a coward, that you are!" Kenshin said. "RYU TSUI SEN!" And that was the end of that.
(A/N: As well as the end of the chapter..................... even though it's really short... so sorry...^_^;)
