CHAPTER TEN: DOCTOR'S NOTES, VICKY
Patient Captain Victoria O'Neill, USN: Patient has been basically in a situation of continual stress for over twenty years, with no support system, with occurring severe trauma. Her main coping mechanism has been to wall her past and suppress traumas. Being brought to Earth has opened up all the things that have remained hidden all of these years.
The outlook is good with continuing therapy, possibly for many years. Patient will also be undergoing joint counseling with husband Colonel Jonathan O'Neill. I suspect that Colonel O'Neill has many unresolved issues not just pertaining to Captain O'Neill's death.
Patient will need all of the standard treatments for POW's in addition to therapy dealing with reintegrating her with society. I plan to research treatments dealing with awakened long term coma patients as they have many of the same issues of the world having moved on without them. To such patients it is almost like being transported forward in time.
I see no reason at this time not to clear Captain O'Neill for limited duty. She should be able to handle any scientific duties on the base. I am, however, not clearing her for gate travel at this time as she will need at least a couple of months of three times a week sessions. Two of these sessions will be individual and one joint with her husband.
Patient will need extensive reeducation in the history of the planet covering twenty-three years. Also she will need refresher courses in technology and the areas of science that she deals with.
Patient warned that her husband would not be so forth coming in therapy, but did me several leads on drawing him out.
Attached is a complete transcript of the session as well as results of her medical exam. An interesting side note, even though patient is forty-nine, physical shows her to have body of someone in their late twenties. Possible a side effect of the exposure to alien technology.

Colonel Alexander Schmidt, MD
