CHAPTER FOURTEEN: DOCTOR'S NOTES THE O'NEILLS

Notes for joint counseling session with Colonel and Captain O'Neill. Patients are undergoing joint counseling in addition to individual counseling to add Victoria in reentering Earth society as well as ascertaining whether or not to continue their marriage.

Captain O'Neill's suggestion that telling the Colonel that the sessions were to help her was dead on. She seems to have great insight into the Colonel's character, even though it has been so long since they had seen one another.

They seem to genuinely care for one anther. They also hold great respect and concern for one another. I have every hope that by the end of these sessions they will decide to stay married, as they are a very good match for each other.

I feel that the Colonel's progress will be accelerated by the joint sessions. After seeing them together I feel his prognosis is much better than I initially thought. He also is willing to support his wife regardless of the outcome of their marriage.

Captain was concerned that he would be supportive because of his sense of duty. While I believe that this is a small part of his support, I believe it is mostly driven by a true affection for her. This is one of the many areas I will have to work on with them.

Tomorrow is Saturday and I have given my consent for The Colonel to take his wife off base to lunch on the condition that it be for only two hours and the place be a quiet one. I think it best to limit Captain O'Neill's exposure to people outside the military until she begins to adjust.

I have a meeting with the couple and General Hammond after lunch to apprise the General on their progress. As the general is also the CO of the base in addition to being Captain O'Neill's uncle, and as they have both given permission to have him fully briefed, I will be giving him more information than I normally do.

Attached is a complete transcript of the session.

Signed,

Colonel Alexander Schmidt, MD
