Chapter Two: I'm With You

I'm standing on a bridge
I'm waiting in the dark
I thought that you'd be here by now
There's nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I'm listening but there's no sound

Kaya stood in the park, waiting for her boyfriend, Jake, to come.

It's nearly eight o'clock…. he said he'd be here an hour ago…

Finally she decided to call him on her mobile. Dialling his number, she sat down on a park bench and waited as the phone rung.

Isn't anyone tryin' to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home
It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are

"Hello?"

One of Jake's guy friends answered.

"Where's Jake? He said he'd be at the park an hour ago…"

Didn't he tell you? We're having a guys' night out at my house."

The guy then hung up on her, leaving Kaya standing there.

She was totally crushed.

Kaya choked back a sob as she headed back to her apartment. Eventually, her hurt was replaced by anger, and she made up her mind. If he was going to walk out on her without a warning, she would do the same to him.

Kaya started making arrangements for a flight out of town, packing her bags and selling the apartment.

Oh why is everything so confusing

She made sure not to tell anyone where she was going or what she was doing until it was too late.
