Yep, yet another boring day at Domino High.
At, least, that's what everyone thought it would be in the morning.
Until their teacher walked in the door, along with a girl who, Yugi guessed, was probably new. "Class, this is Kaya Mackenzie, a transfer student from Shinjuku High."
The newcomer had light brown hair with a red streak down the right side, and blue eyes that seemed to hide something behind pools of innocent cerulean.
"Miss Mackenzie, you may either take a seat next to Joey Wheeler or Seto Kaiba," the teacher instructed, pointing out the two boys in question.
Kaya thought for a moment. `I don't know about this…Kaiba looks pretty cold and harsh, but Joey doesn't seem to have much in the way of intelligence, considering that he's practically staring into space…then again, it's not like I plan on talking to either of them, and I don't feel like sitting next to a complete idiot…'
Kaya walked over to the seat on Kaiba's left and sat there, surprising everybody else, most of whom probably thought she was mad. By the looks on some people's faces, she guessed that not many people were that brave.

Kaya's first class was Maths, which ironically was the same as Kaiba's. The teacher had been giving a boring lecture about equations and all that other stuff, and Kaya was about to fall asleep when the teacher's voice brought her back to the present. "Miss Mackenzie!"
"Huh?"
"The answer to the equation on the board?" Her teacher frowned. "You should-"
"Twenty-nine thousand, three hundred and sixty-two."
"That's" -her teacher looked at his answer sheet and concluded reluctantly- "correct."
"Whoa!" Joey muttered under his breath. "She's almost as good as Kaiba!"
Kaiba raised an eyebrow. `Maybe not everyone around here is a total dimwit…'
I've got the time and I'm wasting it slowly

Onto the next thing, I'm searching for something that's missing
For homework, their History teacher set them a project on ancient civilizations to be done in pairs. As soon as he said the word "pairs" everyone started shooting significant looks at their friends.
The teacher continued. "I have decided that you need some different people to work with, therefore I have already sorted you into pairs."
Everybody except Kaya and Kaiba groaned.
Kaya listened half-heartedly, expecting to be paired with one of the not-so-interesting people.
The reality was completely different.
"And Miss Mackenzie, since you are obviously an advanced student, you will work with Mr. Kaiba."
Kaya gulped. `I think my life just got more interesting…'
