There is something more on the fox than anyone else could see...

Summary: The barrier separating the Ningenkai and the Makai is about to break. The Reikai and the team does not know why, but Kurama is having a hint about it. Because of it, they will discover a teeny-weeny secret about the fox... and a teeny-weeny secret about a lie covering the whole of the three worlds.

Chapter three: It's just the beginning.

(In the youkai world)

If last week, there were only a hundred of monsters pushing the hole per cubic decimeter, now it was doubled ten times. "Hurry, Push MORE!" A sergeant ordered all the monsters. The monsters will not give up, not now when they had gone so far.

There is a great line of class-A monsters pushing harder and harder every minute. These lines are surrounded by class-S sergeants who are guarding these monsters.

After Yusuke and the others left the youkai world, after when the trio monsters teamed up with Yomi and the others, a lot of things changed. There were black hooded creatures found all over the dimension, as if they had just appeared out of nowhere. They quickly multiplied, and soon they reined the said dimension.

Since then, the monsters lower than class-A died, class-A monsters took the rank of the one lower than them while class-S monsters took the position of the past class-A monsters. And a whole new race of the hooded creatures ruled the youkai world, and was rated class-X, since they are really unknown. No monster, except for another class-X, who had seen the whole face of a class-X ever survived.

At a nearby palace...

A class-S monster is kneeling on one knee in front of a class-X. The higher- ranked monster was sitting on the throne. "So, how is it?" He asked, his icy, heartless voice echoed on the room. His pale lips tugged up at the sides, and his eyes are covered by his black hood.

"It's good so far, my Lord. The hole is getting larger and larger, and there is just an approximate of one day left." The general replied. His cape billowed at the cold, chilling wind from the door.

The class-X monster's smile widened. His evil cackle echoed through out the palace as he continued to celebrate. "At last, Kurama. At long last."

~+~+~+~+~

The king sun settled down on the cozy embrace of the mountains. The queen moon rose up from her slumber and replaced the king sun at his throne. The world is at peace as of now, but after a week or two, no one might know...

Hiei had been standing at the cave entrance for already an hour. His face and arms is both cross. His scarlet eyes are on a death glare, focusing on the road ahead. So much for a promise! That Kurama... If only others know what the real Kurama is! The late-comer, the green-minded, naughty human who always teases him. But most of all, he is the thoughtful person behind every beautiful thing that ever happened to him.

In fact, he is the sole purpose on why he is here right now. He's not here because of his twin sister; Yukina can take care of herself. He's not here to see the others. God, does he look like the person who will stay behind this pathetic human world just in order to see brainless humans?

The reason why he is here now is Kurama. He wants to see Kurama. If not for Kurama, he would be one of the monsters trying to break the barrier.

What did Kurama do that attracted Hiei? Nothing much, really, just the complicated human-fox. The smart, intelligent fox who thinks before he does. The sexy, slim hips and feminine-like fox... Oh well, the bottom line is that he's here with Kurama. Period.

To his and his mind's relief, Kurama was on sight. A pint-sized cheek muscle moved, showing a teeny-weeny smile.

"Hi there, Hiei!" Kurama said as he approached the cave. Hiei raised a brow. "Aw, c'mon! You're not angry, are you?" Hiei shrugged as he went inside the cave. Kurama followed Hiei.

Hiei is the most simple person he ever knew. Sure, he had a miserable past, but it brought along the most enchanting creature he ever knew. What he had really admired in this person is Hiei's truthfulness. He is straight forward, and never lied to any body. Unlike /him/. Whichever of the three persons you are referring to.

Then, a shout was heard from the inside that made them hurry up and stop their recollecting. "Hiei, get the hell in here! Stop waiting out there for the fox! The monsters... It seems like they found another power source!"

Kurama and Hiei suddenly ran as they both went to help. Their footsteps echoed in the cave. However, the cave is really too long and seeming endless. Kurama is even wondering where they get their oxygen source.

When they arrived there, the both of them just had to gasp. The hole seems to grow by itself, even if there are people, including the ones from Reikai, trying to control it. Both of them quickly positioned themselves as they gave out all their powers within them. The growing of the hole stopped, but it only shrunk a little.

The sun slept, and seeming to make the group green with envy, he woke up once more, shining to the world his ceaseless energy.

Kurama bit his lip. He's grounded, and he can not leave the group for now. The world needs help. But then... his mother will really worry. That Reikai group, going home as fast as they appeared out of nowhere. They're just too tired, maybe?

His stomach complained. Every body turned to him as Kurama blushed. "Eh... Sorry..." As soon as everybody turned their attention back to the hole, Kurama ordered his plants to get a muffin from his and Hiei's bag.

Hiei snickered at Kurama after hearing another grumbling of stomach. After realizing that it was /his/ stomach, it was Kurama's turn to laugh. Hiei merely 'hn-ed'. What's new, anyway? The fox always teases him!

As soon as Kurama's plants got one muffin, he ordered it to place it on his mouth and took a bite from it, since he can not move his hands. Taking advantage of his lead, he turned to Hiei. "Muffins are the best kind of bread, aren't they, Hiei?" Hiei merely groaned to his companions and shrugged. Then, Kurama bit another.

Hiei could smell the aroma of the muffin... Then, he glared at Kurama. That fox is teasing him once again. Soon, the group was distracted once again by a grumbling of stomach. Hiei blushed as red as a tomato.

Koenma can not help but snicker at the two. Soon, the boisterous laughter of Yusuke and Kuwabara filled the cave. They rolled on the floor, hugging their stomachs.

Hiei glared at the fox beside him. He hates being laughed at, especially now that his best friend is also giggling. Kurama chuckled. Soon, he is also like the two, rolling on the floor.

Hiei glared at Kurama more. To his relief, Kurama, at last, noticed it. He straightened up and apologized "It's just a joke! You're really angry?"

Hiei turned away his head from the fox and focused on the large hole. Fourteen days before, it was one hundred times smaller. The people at the youkai world found another energy source. And who are they kidding, anyway? Only the six of them are fighting the hole! Sure, the people from the spiritual world visit them, but it's just once a day! That is not enough!

And to add more... the great, smart, intelligent best friend of his has the nerve to kid around?! Not to mention the two hyenas who seem to laugh their intestines out every other fifteen minutes. If they are not teasing him and Kurama, they will tease each other. Stupid humans, he daresay.

Then, the catching aroma of the said bread made its way to his nose. He followed its scent, forgetting that he must cover the hole, and saw a muffin before his face. "Sorry. I didn't know you'll take it that seriously." Kurama said, ordering his plant to bring the muffin nearer Hiei's mouth. The peace offering was taken away harshly by the fire monster. Hiei ate it in one gulp.

"You two better get off here. You're just occupying space." Yusuke said as he pushed Kurama roughly. Kurama got out of the circle and went outside. Hiei followed him. When they went outside, they saw the special defense team of the spiritual world.

"Hello there!" Kurama said as he waved at them in greeting. The defense team went inside with no greeting reflected to him. They all have straight faces. "They look like they were scolded, ne?" He asked Hiei as they watched the troupe go inside.

Hiei nodded. They deserve it, anyway.

Kurama piped up with a cheery voice. "Hey! What do you think if we buy bread for them? I'm sure they'll be pretty hungry after a while." Kurama suggested as he smiled at Hiei. Hiei shrugged. Kurama smiled. At least Hiei is not angry anymore.

Kurama handed him a jacket. "You better use this, so at least you're wearing something else than black." He said as he handed Hiei one. Hiei raised a brow, but accepted it nonetheless. They went to buy the said muffin.

(Mall.)

There are a lot of people strolling on the mall today. What are they expecting, anyway? It's an early Saturday, and there are no classes as of now. There is nothing better to do.

Hiei covered both his ears. Damn, he hates this place. If only he could burst it into fire and shut the people up! But then, his best friend would be angry. Very angry.

Kurama chuckled at his friend's reaction. Hiei never liked the mall. Especially now that the noise is /unbearable/. They were passing at a shop playing techno, and he can see Hiei glaring at the people there. He laughed and gripped to Hiei tightly in the shoulder.

Hiei smiled when he saw a familiar shop in sight. Both of them seemed like they forgot that they have a problem back there at the cave.

Kurama went inside a shop. "Hey! Minamino! Wow, you and your little friend always go here, don't you?" The old lady guarding the shop greeted them. One might say that it's very unusual that Hiei left the "little friend" remark alone. He got used to it. The old lady is a sweet lady, anyway, reserve the fact that the old lady thinks that he is a child.

Kurama smiled. "Yeah, we sure are. Anyway, do you have any loaves of bread there? And oh, please add two dozens of muffins." He said as he gave Hiei a wink. Hiei didn't notice it; he was too busy staring at the cakes on the display. He noticed that one of the big pieces of bread is covered with mud. Weird.

"Oh, of course we have. I reserved this last loaf of bread for you; I know that you will buy it. And, of course the personal favorite of Hiei, my special muffins." The old woman said. Kurama smiled at the woman in gratitude.

Hiei raised his head and saw a whole basket of muffins. He could feel the 'saliva rush' of his mouth. Kurama chuckled softly to Hiei as he got the paper bag given to him and paid for the bread. Hiei glared at him, blushing, and returned to the cakes at the display.

Kurama opened the bag and looked at his goods. He noticed something, though. "Uh, oba-san, the..." He was cut off by the sweet old lady. "Oh, I know, I know. I will give that to you for free." Kurama smiled at the old woman with gratefulness. "Thank you." The old woman smiled back as she gave Kurama the change.

Kurama turned around, just to see his best friend staring at the chocolate cake. "Why, Hiei? You want that cake?" He asked. Hiei raised a brow. "Is that cake just topped with mud?" He asked with curiosity. At first, Kurama could not understand Hiei, but soon he did.

"Hiei... that's not mud. That is what we call 'chocolate'. Do you want to taste it?" Kurama asked as he poked Hiei's face. "You better stop treating me like a child or you'd be a fried fox, Kurama."

Kurama just smiled at the death threat of his best friend and just walked to a chocolate shop. Hiei followed, he is really curious as a fox. As a fox... Kurama, the silver fox. Ah, the hell with Kurama. Well, how does the mud taste?

When they arrived at the so-called 'chocolate' shop, there were two other people there. They turned around when they heard Kurama and Hiei's footsteps.

"Hey! Kurama, is that you? Wow! You had really changed! You grew taller and more muscular, you're making me green with envy. Three years is a pretty long time, ne?" Kiddo greeted them. Kurama just smiled at him. Then, Kiddo noticed Hiei. "You surprised me, Hiei! You grew two inches!" Kiddo said as he winked at Hiei.

Kurama smiled at Kiddo nervously as he held tightly on Hiei's shoulders in order to prevent him from doing anything to the other one. Hiei is seething with anger. He could have shoved that hand on his shoulder and attacked Kiddo right now if only it is not Kurama's hands. /Kurama's/ hands.

He just glared at Kiddo and gave up. Kurama is now talking with him. /Flirting/ with him might be the right word. Hiei pouted slightly and stared at the chocolates. To hell with the two of them. He would not be very surprised if they will start making out here.

That flirty fox. He always does that with every body, be it girls or boys. He even did that to Yusuke once. The stupid green-haired boy didn't resist. What did he do? Nothing really, he just kicked Yusuke's head off his consciousness.

Suddenly, he felt someone glaring at him. He looked up and saw Kaito glaring at him. Hiei ignored it; although he is very uncomfortable with the treatment the bookworm is giving to him, and nudged Kurama. However, the fox is still busy flirting. Hiei nudged harder.

Kurama looked at Hiei and smiled to Kaito. "Oh, we need to go now. May I have a bar of Hershey's?" He said as he proceeded to the sales lady's counter. He winked at the ningen lady and smiled. Hiei tugged Kurama's shirt, knowing that he is still planning to flirt with her. Truth be told, he is still uncomfortable with the bookworm's angry look.

As soon as Kurama got the chocolate, he paid it and waved goodbye to the three people. The three of them waved back. Especially the love-struck book worm.

/Love struck/ bookworm. Oh... OK.

Hiei glared at the bookworm and followed Kurama. Kaito glared back. One can smell gunpowder in the air as the two continued to glare with each other. If looks could kill, then Kurama, Kiddo and the sales lady would have been surprised to see two dead bodies in the mall.

So much for a friendly rivalry.

~+~+~+~+~

Kurama watched Hiei as he took a bite at the chocolate. Hiei bit the chocolate. He tasted it. No word should be said, the sweet mud is too delicious. He took his time to eat it. Both of them forgot that they have a problem to be solved.

Kurama took a seat beside where Hiei sat. They are currently at the train. How he dearly wished that he is that bar of chocolate. The one which Hiei is licking... Ah! Hentai mind! His 'sight-seeing' was cut short when the train stopped. They both went out.

Kurama held on Hiei's free hand tightly. Hiei got lost here once. The next thing he knew, he was dealing with an angry Koorime at the train station. There is already a small fire at the side of the train station. The reason? A child got his /sweet snow/. He does not want history repeating itself, especially now that the koorime is having fun with his /sweet mud/.

~+~+~+~+~

The Reikai defense team backed away from the hole. So did the Reikai Tentai team. The hole is now a hundred times bigger before Kurama and Hiei ever left. It towered over them, and the monsters' hands are reaching out in their direction.

Yusuke held his head between his hands. "Keiko... I'm sorry..." He sobbed. Kuwabara glanced at the hole hopelessly. Koenma has the "I'm dead and you're toasted" look on his face. All the other people there have that look as well, and it's as if it's the end of the world.

Truth be told, it IS hopeless, and it IS the end of the world. The hole is now open. After a minute or two, the monsters will take over the ningenkai. Yusuke gritted his teeth as he thinks of what will become of the world. Screaming people, monsters unleashed and all the other dreaded things that might seem too impossible for other humans.

"We need to plan now. The human world can not be saved, we need to get ready to fight a war." The leader of the Reikai defense team said as he got up and heaved a sigh. Kuwabara cursed under his breath.

"Where the hell are Kurama and Hiei when you need them?" He cursed as he ran out of the cave just like the others. Yusuke was still shocked, and Kuwabara has to carry him. The group ran out of the cave. They all have broken hopes. The end of Ningenkai is near. The chill in the air is already different than last week's. Kuwabara is sobbing just as hard as Yusuke is.

The ground shook violently.

(In the train station)

Kurama and Hiei stared at each other, as if they can sense something wrong going on. Indeed, there was. But Hiei and Kurama was still busy bonding with each other to pinpoint which is which.

Suddenly, Kurama piped up .His voice is filled with uncertain and worry. "Yusuke and the others might have had trouble!" He shouted with worry in his voice. Hiei turned to him, and rushed to outside.

The sky is dark, and the clouds are covering the mighty sun. The animals erased every hint of theirs, as if afraid that the end of the world is here. It's something that might happen, if only they can make a plan.

Kurama and Hiei rushed down the train station. They are already near outside when they were blocked by two people. They wore menacing grins and evil eyes. Both humans are looking at Kurama with great mischief.

Hiei eyed them suspiciously, he had already saw them before. He observed them carefully. The people who had beaten Kurama one day after school! He glared at them. He was about to release his katana when Kurama held on him tightly. "Hiei, don't do that."

"So, Minamino, I see that you're with your weird little friend." One of them said. Hiei glared at them. Kurama gripped on Hiei tighter this time, afraid that they might attract too much attention.

"Please, Tetsuo and Kai, we are in a hurry. Please step aside now." Kurama said, although one can sense that he's angry. The two humans, who sensed it, didn't move a single muscle.

Suddenly, the earthquake reached the train station. Hiei's eyes widened. Kurama gulped. There is a stampede forming, and soon they blocked the two humans from the two demons. Kurama and Hiei took this opportunity to run away.

(In the youkai world)

"Master! I have good news!" The class-S monster said as he kneeled in front of the class-X "Yes? What is your good news?" The higher-ranked monster asked, as he turned to the other monster. "The hole between the human world and the monster world is already useless! We can all go there and destroy those lowly beings!" The class-S answered.

The class-X monster smiled widely, revealing very sharp fangs. "It's time to face the facts and the past." He grinned evilly. He got off his throne and went near the window to take a look at the finished work.

"Order the class A's. We will go to the human world now." The class-S monster nodded as he took off to do the job assigned to him.

As soon as his companion left, Hiroshi smiled as he touched the glass that covers him from the rest of the monster world. "Kurama, it's time to face us and Kaede as well."

A/N: I watched YYH once again, and I saw that the real name of his foster brother is Shunichi/Shuichi Hatanaka. I already changed Touya to Shunichi... :-).

Oh, anyway, I will make my OC's here, like the comrades of Kaede and Hiroshi. Mukuro, Yomi, and Raisen, along with all the original monsters at the real YYH will be... let's just say... discarded? Not really like that, but in this part, they will disappear like a bubble. Except for some. I will make the names of the new monster on the Youkai world.

Sorry if it took me a century to update. It's just tough to make three fanfics at a time. You know what, my mom dragged me to the province this holy week! They replaced YYH with Flame of Recca in the local TV and my puppy died! WAAH! *cries*

Oh, well, that's all, I'm wishing against luck that I can update this very soon. I can consume a 20- hour internet card in one week, you know.
