Title: Life Without Him

Author: Cerulean Sapphire

Summary: Years passed but she still hadn't felt the desire to take off her engagement ring. She longed to see him and be with him, but she knew that even death could not separate her to the one she most dearly loved. H/G One- shot

A/N: I made this one-shot story for a fan fiction challenge at Beautilicious Imaginility boards by Thai. I had fun writing this, but sadly, I don't think it's angsty enough to pass. So I made another one, entitled Let Go. Read it. You might like it. And Review!

The wind was chilly, blowing scattered leaves about. The rustling of the branches and leaves was the only sound to be heard in this eerie place. Most of the time, there wasn't anyone seen in these grounds. Though a vast, cold place, people go here to spend their time with their loved ones.

It was the cemetery, where the dead lie six feet below the ground, where people mourn for the loss of someone special. On the cold and cloudy day of October, when thunders roar and signs of rain is ahead, a young woman was looking at the tombstone that lay in front of her. No tears were visible, yet the immense sadness could still be felt around her.

Thunders roared again, but she wasn't startled. She was used to all the weather conditions in the cemetery, for she had been going there over and over again. Most of the people lying underneath the soil were people who died in the war, the heroes of the land. But none were as famous as the hero lying beneath the tombstone she was looking at.

She could still remember him when she last saw him. His face was all set on his decision but his eyes were of pure loneliness. His face...just thinking about him stabs her heart. Nothing could be more hurtful than what had happened years ago, when the war was still on, when people were fearful of what's to come, when people dread one monster. By the name of Lord Voldemort.

True as it may be, she still could not believe that she was alone at this very moment. Months after he was buried, people flocked just to pray for him. But now, years later, he was forgotten. She was all alone to mourn for the loss of someone precious.

She looked at the name engraved at the tombstone, and then to her left ring finger. There was a white band, on it was a single diamond. Years passed but until now, still she wore the engagement ring he gave the night before his departure.

"After everything that will happen...when I come back...marry me."

With no hesitation, without any afterthought, she said yes, because she knew she loves the man in front of her.

The ring...everytime she looked at it, she wants to follow him in heaven. She longed to see him, to hold him, and to be with him again.

But that same ring always gives her the strength to move on...to get on with a life without him.

And she took off the ring, looked at the inner part and read:

Harry-Ginny

And she knew, just knew by then, that even death could not separate her to the one she most dearly loved.

Ginny replaced the ring on her finger. And with one last look at the tombstone, she set off towards the exit of the cemetery.
