--Well, what can I say? It's an SJ fic, and I'm hoping that I capture the essence of the show (ie, the visual story-telling aspect) well. I hope you like it. Oh, by the way, this is only the first part. It would suck for an episode to be this short. :D--

Disclaimer: Genndy T. and CN own Samurai Jack. I don't. Pity me.

Prologue

"Though I have nothing tangible that I can offer in return for your kindness, I do have knowledge of something that may prove even more valuable.

"Across the desert foothills lay a mountain range. One, in particular, is of your interest. In the center of Mt. Kisai, there is rumored to be a rare item, one capable of granting anyone awesome abilities. But, to reach it, you must first find your way through the catacomb of caves that run through the mountainside, and then survive the various monsters and traps that wait in them. To enter the caves without knowing the path would surely lead to your death.

"There is hope, though. In a small village at the base of the mountain range, there is one who is known simply as "Oz". According to local legend, he was born in the treasure room many decades ago, and spent the first half of his life roaming the catacombs, learning every last inch of the mountain. However, he has also gained the reputation of being quite insane, taking dangerous-and often times deadly-risks to gain his measure of fun.

"I know not what may come of this information, but know this. If you wish to survive the journey, you must be wary of both the caves *and* the guide. I wish you well, Samurai."
