The sirens were already blaring by the time Michael G. had retrieved his
Gauss rifle from the armory.
'Section Alpha, repeat, Section Alpha! Arm yourselves and be ready to engage in combat in ten minutes! Large zerg contingent assault! Casualties are heavy! I repeat! Casualties are-'
Gunfire sliced the morning silence, and soon Michael was on his knees. He had never seen war, only the altered graphics on the military dominated news networks. Zerglings began to break through gaps in the colonies rag- tag defence. And boy, were they ugly.
Powered by fear, Michael staggered up and half-heartedly fired into the Zerg host. Barely half a round had been used when Zerglings pounced upon him. He fell, gun blazing away, with Zerglings digging through his armour. Soon the gunfire grew quiet, and the rifle fell onto the blood stained floor.

"Fleet General Chaust sir! Zerg forces have launched an unprovoked assault upon our colonies on planet Rapheus-x; resistance is scattered and only with small arms. We are trying to communicate survivors, if any, assault the zerg hives and try to launch evac..."
"Cancel communications. The zerg on Rapheus-x are probably there for the minerals. If we make any loud bang on the planet they will launch a full out assault upon our struggling fleet. The remaining colonies will probably keep the zerg busy, while we assemble our forces and rain nuclear acopalypse upon the infestation. Not one Zerg will be left alive to report to their queen. We'll take out a million Zerglings in just over a week "
"But commander, the people on the planet will be killed! And if a word of this gets back to Earth..."
Chaust slammed his fist on a table. "No-one will know about this, Colonel, only you and me. Believe me, it's for the better of the UED. And if anyone betrays me, I'll personally kill them like the twofaced ****head they are!"
Colonel Fernalds replied with a grin "I will NEVER betray you, especially to the cash-hungry dogs at the UED council." He looked around, puzzled, " But just where will we obtain such high level explosives. We don't have authorisation."
The general laughed, "Authorisation? We do not need authorisation! Because, no one will no I authorized it! We'll pinch a couple of nuclear bombs from the main fleet and then stage a nuclear 'accident'. And with the Dominions record of catastrophic accidents and miscalculations, I think we just might get away with it!"
"You mean..."
"Yep, we'll dish the pain, the Dominion takes the blame. I mean, how hard will it be to hijack a Dominion fleet, fill it to the brim with nukes, and send it 'crashing' onto the planet. With a carefully timed explosive, we'll blast the zerg sky-high! And we'll also **** up the dominions reputation. Its like err..."
"Killing two birds with one stone?"
"Yes that's the one. Now get back to work, Colonel. Cancel the communications. It'll look bad if any of the survivors, well, survive and tell about our knowledge of their plight"
Fernalds exited the room and closed the door. He hissed, "And the twofaced bastard has already sprung his trap. The UED will soon tremble before the might of the Dominion!"
