A/N: I feel like writing a one chapter story, so I'm gonna. All fluff, so beware.
Just One Night
Ron sat alone in the common room. It was Christmas break, and Harry, Ron and Hermione were the only Gryffindor students left. Harry had gone to bed early. Ron just realized that he didn't know where Hermione was. He closed the Quidditch book he had been reading, (he should have been doing homework) grabbed his cloak and ventured outside.
Ron didn't know why he thought Hermione was outside; it was just a feeling. Snow was falling lightly as Ron stepped outside. He spotted the brunette sitting on a bench, seemingly contemplating.
"Hullo Hermione," Ron said.
Hermione jumped slightly before saying, "How did you know I was here?"
"Yes, and its nice to see you too," Ron joked.
"Sorry, you can sit down," Hermione said moving aside.
"Thank you," Ron said sitting down, "And it was just a guess. I didn't know you were out here."
"Oh," Hermione replied simply.
There was a moment of silence, and then, "So why are you out here anyway?" Ron asked.
"I don't know," Hermione whispered. She stared out at the lake, which wasn't too far away. She shivered slightly. Ron, seeing this, put his arm around her shoulders. He was surprised when she leaned her head against his chest. "I'm scared, Ron."
"Why?" Ron hoped Hermione couldn't hear the beating in his chest.
"Because of all the things that are happening. I don't want to loose anyone in the war."
"Oh, of course," Ron said, "We're all scared."
"I don't know what to do, Ron."
"I think, I think that we should make the best of what we have now, and when the time comes to fight, we'll be ready."
Hermione turned her head to look at him, "That was very profound of you, Ron." She smiled.
"I do have my moments." He smiled back.
"Ron," Hermione was still looking up at him, "is there anything you regret?'
Ron could defiantly think of something he regretted, but he couldn't tell Hermione. He replied, "Sure there is. . . why?"
"What if you died in the war or something. . ." Hermione started to say. Ron saw a tear in the corner of her eye.
"Hermione, you shouldn't think about those things."
"I can't help it Ron! Everything is happening so fast!" Hermione moved away from him and faced him. Her cheeks and nose were read. Tears were running down her cheeks now. "What if you, or Harry dies!? What about my parents?"
"Hermione, calm down!" Ron said. He took the corner of his sleeve and wiped away her tears. Her hair was covered with snow. Ron tucked her hair behind her ear. As his hand came down, he gently touched her face. Hermione and Ron locked their eyes and seemed to be drawn together.
They were so close that their hair touched. "What is it that you regret?" Hermione asked.
"This," Ron leaned forward and their lips locked. Ron leaned back to see Hermione's reaction. Hermione immediately went back in for another kiss. They rapped their arms around each other as the snow fell down around them.
They parted and Hermione again leaned against Ron's chest, "If I could spend just one night, I would spend it with you Ron."
