Chapter 2
Trapped Inside
The two searched for nearly an hour, trying to find a way out of the place. "Of all of the houses we've been in. This is the first time I've ever seen a house without a backdoor." Gage replied. Just then, Syd got an idea. "Hey Gage. We're busting our butts trying to find a way out. We've got our cell phones in our pockets. We can call headquarters and get some help out here." Syd suggested. Gage shook his head.
"I already tried. Something is blocking the signal." Gage replied. Syd walked over to a nearby chair and plopped down, sending dust flying. Gage was just walking up to her when he heard her let out a scream. "What is it Syd?!?" Gage asked in a worried voice. "There's something alilve under my chair!!" Syd replied in a scared voice.
Gage got down on his hands and knees to take a look. "It's only a harmless little mouse. I think it was more scared that you are." Gage replied with a laugh. Syd sat there as she started to laugh. "I don't know why I was so scared of just a little mouse. Come on, there's got to be some way of getting out of here." Syd said as she got up from her chair.
Meanwhile, back at Ranger Headquarters.......Walker was trying to reach either Syd or Gage to see if they found anything. Trivette seen the concerned look on his face as he hung up the phone. "Anything wrong Walker?" Trivette asked. "I can't seem to reach either Syd or Gage by phone." Walker replied. "Maybe they're just out of range. Or, in an area where they can't pick up the signal." Trivette commented. Walker only nodded his head.
Back at the house, somehow Syd and Gage got separated and were searching different parts of the house to try find a way out. Syd found the stairs that led to the second floor. She cautiously made her way up. Stairboards creaked as she got to the second floor. "Gage? Where are you?" Syd called out as she walked down a long hallway.
Suddenly, as she was walking by a door, a hand came out and clamped a rag over her mouth. She had no time to react as she was dragged into the room. She felt a blindfold being placed over her eyes and being placed on a rather hard chair. Her hands were tied behind her and to the chair. Her feet were tied to the chair as well.
"Who are you?!?" Syd yelled, hoping her voice would alert Gage. "Oh, we have plans for both you and your Ranger friend. But, by the time your other Ranger friends find you, it'll be too late." The voice said as they place a strip of duct tape over Syd's mouth. She struggled in the chair, only to drive herself to near exhaustion.
Gage, in the meantime had found the same set of stairs and had made his way to the second floor. "Syd? Where'd you go?" Gage called out. Only, he went into the opposite direction that Syd had went. In the shadows just ahead of him, was the person who grabbed Syd. They had a blackjack in their hand and was waiting for just the right time to use it........................
