NOTE: None of these characters belong to me. They all belong to J.K
Rowling, so all praise her!
NOTE AGAIN: This first chapter is quite (read – very) short and is just to get you used to the story and my writing style. The next chapter will get more interesting, I PROMISE. Take my word. And this fic will be a Hermione/Harry ship. ;) Please, please, please review so I know how to improve! ----------------------------------------------------- Chapter One – Greetings and Rashes Like Whoa
"Harry! Oh, Harry, it's so wonderful to see you!"
Hermione Granger, a sharp young witch of seventeen, flung her arms around her best friend. Harry squeezed her back tightly, and it wasn't until she released him that Hermione realized Harry wasn't smiling. Well, his mouth was turned up into what classifies as smile, but he wasn't smiling. Hermione was smart, and she could easily catch the fake expression plastered on her friend's face.
"Harry... Harry, what's wrong? Aren't you excited to be back at Hogwarts? I figured that you would certainly be enthralled to be away from the Dursleys and Dumbledore will be just so happy to see you and I heard that Herbology Class this year is just wonderful! I already read the whole book and Chapter Seven was really quite fascinating, you should pick it up before we start classes on Monday! And oh, Harry, I really think..."
Hermione words confusingly faded away. Harry Potter's body might have been right next to her, but his mind was most definitely somewhere else.
"Hermione, I'm fine. Don't worry about it, really. I guess I am just anxious to see Ron. The Dursleys were just dreadful this summer and they wouldn't let me visit the Burrows, so I miss him! And you must as well, I'm sure."
"Of course, Harry! I did owl him all summer but I certainly am excited
to see his face again."
Harry gave Hermione what seemed to be a convincing smile, and then glanced around Platform 9 ¾. His eyes landed on Draco Malfoy and his posse, but he quickly averted his stare.
Hermione watched Harry closely with an intent eye. She watched him glance around the train station, slightly swaying back and forth and lifting his shirt sleeve up to scratch his arm. Suddenly, her eyes fell on a strange irritation on his forearm.
"Harry... what is that on your arm? Poison Ivy, perhaps? If it is, I have the perfect spell for it... Reparo Ivorum, I think, or was it Contradictum Poisum? I can't remember, actually, but I am sure I could fix it if I could just find my spell book..."
Harry shot her a sharp, panicked glance. However, it was instantaneously replace by a soothing, calm look.
"Oh, yeah, that. Don't worry about it. Probably just some kind of skin irritation. Maybe I've been scratching my arm to much or something. Really. It's fine."
Hermione was about to rebut when she was interrupted by a "Hullo!"
Ron had arrived, at last!
