"Hey"
I spun around. It was Adam.
"Hey" I replied happily.
"You're going to be at the game today right?" he asked
I nodded my head softly and Adam walked off. I sighed. I wonder what Adam would like in his jersey. Probably even cuter than he already was, I snapped out of my dreamy look. No! Adam is not cute! He is no- Oh, who am I kidding? I like him, and I know Adam likes me. I admit. So why do I resist? That bad feeling took over me once again. I knew something was going to go wrong, but what if it didn't, am I putting my happiness in jeopardy because of a gut feeling? I shook my head and walked off for class. I'm thinking too much.
The last bell rang and I grabbed my books and headed back to my dorm. I put down my books and went to the rink. Luckily the tournament was on school grounds or I would be completely lost. I took a seat in the front. Cheerleaders get priority seating, but of course I had to wear the outfit. I sat between Tom and this other cheerleader, Ashley.
The game started about ten minutes later. I saw students wearing white jerseys come out from one end of the rink.
"Here come the Mighty Ducks!" yelled the announcer through the speakers.
I clapped and cheered, just like every other Eden Hall student at the rink. I saw Adam and waved. Adam spotted me and waved back. I smiled and sat back down onto my seat. I must say Adam looks good in his jersey!
The Ducks did their traditional quaking and the supporters followed. "Go Ducks" The players yelled and they skated out onto the ice.
The players took their positions and the referee dropped the puck. At first, there was a lot of ...well, tackling. Then, finally the real action started.
"Moreau to Conway, Conway to Mendoza, Mendoza to Averman, Averman to Banks and yes! He scores! Banks scores!" the speakers bellowed.
I stood up and cheered loudly as his teammates all crowded round him. Adam smiled at me when they had all let go of him and I cheered louder.
The rest of the game was a blur to me; I had no clue what was going on! I never knew hockey was so fast and complicating. But I did hear something about a knuckle puck? Flying V? Quack attack? Any of that ring a bell to you? Oh! But I did hear a lot of "play defence!" from coach Orion, but don't worry, I know what that means. Tom tried to fill me in on all the details and I really appreciated it, too bad I don't understand it!
Tom saw the confused look on my face and said "To put a long story short, the Ducks are winning"
"Oh..." I said, nodding my head. I felt like a dumb blonde! (Not that I discriminate blondes, it's just a figure of speech)
The final horn sounded and the announcer came on "And that is the end of the game. The score is 7-2, so the Ducks win!"
I could see all the Ducks skate to the middle of the rink. They hugged each other. Then they shook their opponents hands. After all that, I ran down to meet Adam. Adam skated over to the entrance after seeing me.
"Adam, you were great!"
"Thanks"
"Okay, but now you're sweaty. Is that supposed to impress me?" I gave him a very cheeky look
"No, the way I played was supposed to impress you" He answered casually.
"Are you always this direct?"
"No"
I laughed, "So all this is supposed to make me impressed?"
Adam thought, "Yes, but is it working?"
I put my arms around his neck and pulled my body to his until his lips touched mine.
"Does that answer your question?" I asked calmly
He smiled and pressed my lips against his once more.
I could hear whispering at the background and cheering when we finally stopped kissing. I laughed. This is going to be the start of a beautiful relationship.
