Through the years
I never took your for granted
You were my best friend
There no matter what happened
Always smiling and waiting to see me
With a smile on my face
I watched you for years
Through pain and happiness

But now you're gone
And I can no longer see how you used to smile
I can no longer play with you
All I can do is look at pictures and remember
Remember all the times when we had fun
Remember those conversations while we slept
Remember those eyes
So chocolate, and happy,
But those soon turned dark
Filled with pain
As the only thing that made the sparkle come back

How you played and ran around
Not afraid to do what you love
To play with your friends
To lay out in the sun as the rays made your face light up
All know is what I was told
That you had cancer
Cancer that hurt you
And when I found out
I knew that it would never be the same
The way you smiled would only be there
Because you knew that it might be the last time
And now you're gone
To a better place
Where you are no longer in pain
And the disease that plagued you
Is no longer there
Where you can soar
Be the one watching over me
In heaven and more
You watching my tears fall from my eyes
As I hurt to have you gone from my life
But I know that you are in a better place
Where angels soar

My best friend is no longer ill
But dead
But as long as you're not in pain
