Dragonheart: The Final Chapter
In the last years of Geoff's life, Brother Mansel found a dragon's egg within the very bottom of Brother Gilbert's monastery. He took the egg to the Abbott. They kept it hidden for many years. Geoff and Drake eventually died.
In the castle, the new king, Esvard, had just celebrated the birth of his new daughter, Adria. Sixteen years had past, until Adria was a beautiful young girl like her mother, the late Queen Margaretia. Adria went hunting with her father and elder sisters, Thaila and Maere. She was hit by an arrow and fell to the ground, dead.
The new dragon was named Drach. He was a resemblance to his father, Drake, and his grandfather, Draco. He often was allowed outside the monastery walls. He eventually went back to Draco's cave. Thaila, Maere, and Esvard took Adria to Drach, for they had learned of the stories of how Draco and Drake had given half of their hearts to Bowen and Geoff. Drach gave half of his heart to the young princess, in exchange that she visit him once a year and that she remain pure.
Drach did this because he had fallen in love with Adria. He couldn't get her out of his mind. Adria visited him as she had promised. Drach and Adria became friends over time. They talked about the "Old Code' and stories of dragons. Soon, sixteen-year -old Adria was to be wed to Yanu of Ravenford, a large, old hideous man who was twice her senior. She fled to Draco's cave, where she spilled her sorrow and fear to Drach. He comforted her, assuring her that he wouldn't let her marry Yanu.
She fell for the dragon over time as he had fallen in love with her. Adria told Drach that she wanted to be a mother. He was surprised at first, but shared the same feelings. "Are you willing to so what is necessary to have a child?" asked Drach. "Yes, I am" replied Adria. Drach picked her up in his arms and laid her on the cave floor on some sheep skins. He removed her dress and she laid there, bare. He slept with her and she was soon pregnant.
A union between a dragon and human was unheard of. The villagers started to talk and became fearful. Drach found out and took his pregnant lover and flew to a secluded place within the woods. But, Yanu discovered this and galloped on his horse to the place. He managed to kill Drach, making dragons only but a mere memory. Adria, somehow managing to still survive even though she and the dragon were connected, escaped. She only made it to the village of Shaendor, where she cried for help. The village midwife, Oswalla, found Adria and brought her into her hut. Adria cried out in pain, until she had delivered a son, whom was named Adran. She then delivered a daughter, whom was named Adra. Then, Adria died. The twins were born with pointed ears, the claws/fangs of their father, and their mother's human appearance. What would become of twin such children?
