Hey Sev,
I'm sorry I haven't written in a while. It's been damn busy here. Anyway, I do hope you're not pestering those Gryfindor's again. They didn't do anything wrong. Well, Mr. Lockest is giving me the "eye" so I better go. I'll see you in a couple of days (you can't stop me, Dumbledore's requested my presence).

Your bestest friend,
Marina

Severus sat in Dumbledore's office. It was five minutes before Marina was supposed to show up for their tutoring session. He straightened the leaves of notes he'd compiled and looked down at his hands. He was not an ugly person. Sure, he had greasy hair and a longer-then-normal nose but he wasn't ugly. He just needed to wash his hair once in a while. He picked at a small scab that was remnants of stirring a potion for over an hour in Potions a couple of weeks earlier.

From what he knew of Marina she was nice. He'd only had a couple of tutoring sessions with her but she was nice. He enjoyed her company mostly because she didn't cringe when he spoke. He liked her because she didn't know not to like him. He was eternally grateful to Dumbledore for giving him the only friend he had at Hogwarts or anywhere for that matter.

The door swung open and Marina tumbled in with an oversized bag slung over her shoulder. Severus got up quickly to help her. "Here, I'll take that for you."

"Thanks Sev," she smiled, allowing him to carry the bag to the desk that Dumbledore had set up. "It's alright that I call you Sev right?"

"Yeah, what should I call you?"

"I don't know. I've never had a nickname before. Why don't you make one up."

"Um, okay. Rina?, no, that doesn't work. Mary?, no, not at all. What's your middle name?"

"Arella."

"Ella? That sounds nice to me. What do you think?"

"It's nice Sev. I like it."

"Right, good. Now we're going to be doing DADA first." Severus went on to explain many of the spells that they were studying. "Okay, do you have it?"

"I think so."

"Right, let's try it then." The two situated each other on opposite sides of the room. "Ready?" she nodded slightly.

"Stupefy!"

"Protego," she shouted but it didn't work. She fell to the ground with a soft thud. He walked over to her and bent down. He then did the counter spell and helped her up. "I just can't get it! I could get it without a wand but not with one."

"I understand, well, actually I don't but Dumbledore said."

"I know, I know. If you can't use a wand then if your power is drained in anyway you'll be defenseless."

"Yes. Now, I think your problem is that you aren't moving the wand the right way. I can help you with that." He walked around behind her and reached his arms about her under her armpits. He grasped his hand over her's which was clutching the wand. "Now just relax and let me do it at first." He moved her arm around and she found she really wasn't paying any attention. It felt so lovely to be in his arms. "Swish and flick."

"Mmhmm, swish and flick," she murmured. They continued their lesson and at its end they exited together. "Thanks Sev, I'll see you tomorrow morning in DADA."

"I'll look forward to it Ella, that doesn't work does it? I'll just say Marina till something works."

"Whatever you say," she gave a little wave and they parted in opposite directions. When she knew he was out of ear and eye shot she gave a little jump and "hurray!". She walked to the dorm in a daze. Sera was sitting on the her bed with the curtains open.

"Hey Marina, what's up?" the talkative red head asked.

"Oh nothing," Marina said, stifling a grin.

"Yeah, whatever. You like someone, who is it?"

"Oh, I don't know."

"Come on, the other girls are asleep!"

"Fine, I like, well, I think I like Severus."

"Snape?!" Sera exclaimed in a muffled voice.

"Shh!" Marina quickly walked over to her bed. "What's wrong with Severus anyway?"

"Oh, I don't know. He's weird, dirty, and refuses to talk to anyone."

"He talks to me and sure he's weird but just as much as the rest of us. As for his hygiene, I think he just needs someone to wash his hair!"

"Why would you like Snape?"

"He's incredibly nice. He volunteers to help me with my studies every single night and tonight he actually took my hand and showed me how to move the wand."

"Well that's definitely a side of Snape I've never seen before. I don't think anyone's seen that side of Snape."

"He's also trying desperately to find a nickname for me."

"That actually sounds cute."

~In the fifth year Slytherin dormitory~

Severus fell back into his bed with the tiny journal clutched in his hands. It had been a generic gift from a very distant relative. He'd never used it but it felt like a time in which the gesture would be appropriate.

"Um, this is really weird but I just have to get it out. There's this girl. She's, well, wonderful. She doesn't seem to abhor my company which,, believe me, is no modest task in the eyes of the rest of the school. I'm tutoring her because she's so brilliant that she can do magic without a wand. Her name is Marina Arella Ferilli. It just roles off your tongue, Marina Arella Ferilli. She's a transfer student from I don't know where. I don't even know if she's transferred from anywhere. The way she act though, she could have transferred from heaven. I think, well, this is so strange, I think that I "more then like her". She'd never like me though right? I'm slimy, disgusting Snape! Anyway, I've got to get to sleep. Maybe I'll get lucky and dream about her."

~Back in the fifth year, girl's, Ravenclaw dormitory~

"Dear diary,
I think I'm in love. He's a Slytherin and is my tutor. He's incredibly smart and lovely. Well, he could be lovely if he washed his hair. I'd never say that to him because, deep down, I think that he's very sensitive. Anyway, Dumbledore said I was supposed to fall in love with him! I didn't think it would happen because when I saw the picture I thought he looked incredibly ugly. I suppose it's one of those things in which you have to see the inside of a person to notice their beauty. I've got to go now diary. Until tomorrow!"
