Sev,
It's me, Rina. I was just writing to ask if you wanted to meet me at "The Three Broomsticks" for drinks or something. I've had a bloody long day and need a break. Just write back with an answer. If you can't come I think I might stop by your office and have something to eat there (wink wink).

Love and kisses!
Marina

Severus rolled over in his bed. With bleary eyes he looked over at the other beds in his room. The were all full of snoozing fifth years. For a moment he didn't know why he felt so heavenly. Then he remembered. He'd gotten back to his Common Room just five minutes after curfew (he didn't meet Oldenburg thank goodness!). He and Marina had spent a wonderful evening sipping coffee and listening to music.

He stretched his arms as wide as they would go and felt the joints creak. It was a Saturday morning and he actually wanted to get up. He looked out at the sky. It was a lovely day with the sun just cresting the fluffy clouds, casting a warm pink glow over the spring sky. He could hear birds tweeting merrily outside his window. He knew of course that the window was only mimicking the outside since they were in the dungeons but he didn't care.

With a graceful movement he swung his legs over the side of the bed and didn't even wince when his feet hit the hard floor. He went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. To his surprise his normally pallid cheeks were slightly rosy. His eyes looked less sunken in and his smile was less pained. He decided that he wanted his hair to reflect his happy attitude so he dove into the shower. He was in there a moment before realizing he didn't have any shampoo. "the other boys won't care really," he reasoned softly to himself.

He squirted a dollop of green paste into his hand and rubbed it through his hair. He let the water run down his body and wondered why he hadn't enjoyed the miracle of the shower before. After washing his hair and other body parts (come on guys, this isn't NC-17!) he stepped out of the shower, grabbing a towel. He took his wand and dried his hair before pulling it back into a pony tail.

Once back in the bedroom he selected a gray T-shirt and a pair of jeans. He tugged them on and pulled on a previously discarded pair of dragon-hide boots. With a look around the room he threw on his robes before shouldering his bag.

He took the stairs two at a time, arriving in the Great Hall in record time. He looked around the room and spotted Marina sitting at a table with a newspaper in her hands. She was gracefully sliding dry cereal and milk through her lips and reading the article intently. He tiptoed up to her and grabbed the newspaper from her hands. She yelped in surprise and he laughed. It was the first laugh anyone had ever heard from the boy and the ones who were inhabiting the Great Hall jumped in surprise. It wasn't an attractive laugh, kind of hacking, but it was a laugh all the same.

"Good morning Sev," she breathed heavily. It was then that the Marauders noticed the Slytherin's presence.

"My God! Who came back from the dead?" James said, bewildered.

"I didn't think it could happen," Sirius added.

"It's a miracle!" Peter squeaked.

"Come on guys, it was bound to happen," Remus replied, not looking up from his book as he took a long swig of tea.

"What do you mean Moony?" James asked, turning his eyes to his friend who was looking a bit puckish due to the recentness of the full moon.

"You saw the way he looked at her. She's the first one to give him a chance after all."

"Yeah, she's a bloody angel" Peter said.

"Or bloody crazy!" Sirius added.

"I'll have to side with Sirius," James said. Of course that was no surprise.

"I don't know why you sound so bitter. It's obviously made a good change in the git!" Remus cried almost indignantly.

"Yeah, it looks like he washed his hair."

"I know what you're thinking Padfoot. I wouldn't recommend it, not now." Remus said, noticing the glint in Sirius's eyes.

"What do you mean?"

"He'll probably kill you if you do anything in front of Marina."

"Whatever, let's just go." The four got up and left the Great Hall leaving Severus and Marina in peace.

"You look very chipper this morning," Marina said, patting a seat beside her.

"I just can't get rid of this good mood!" he replied happily.

"You look different, what happened?"

"I took a shower." She grinned. "What do you want to do today?"

"I don't know, what do you want to do today?" she asked, taking a gulp of tea.

"We could go to the library."

"It's wonderful outside!"

"Okay, we could just go walk the grounds."

"Let's just spend the day next to the lake."

"Okay, sounds good to me. We could go over some things and call it a tutor session," Severus added.

"Yeah and we could read aloud from "The Demon." I got into it last night."

"Let's go."

"You haven't eaten anything."

"Fine," he grabbed a piece of toast and stuffed it in his mouth.

"That's disgusting," she said, screwing up her face. Meanwhile, Dumbledore was looking on with a bemused smile on his face. A few months had passed and they were already two love birds. Severus was finally coming out of his shell. His eyes hung on them as they walked out of the door to the open grounds.

Severus showed Marina to his favorite tree and transfigured a leaf to a blanket on which they could sit. By then the sun was in the sky and the beautiful colors of sunrise were slowly fading into robin's egg blue. They sat in silence for a while, enjoying the silence. Severus stared at Marina, transfiguring every flaw she had in his mind. He imagined her perfect, so much so that she became an angel in his eyes. He loved the way her brown hair kind of twined. He loved the way her dark eyes reflected the sunlight. He loved how her lips kind of moved when she was concentrating. He loved the way she folded her knees in. He loved the way her hands were always moving.

"I love the morning," she whispered.

"And I love the night." She smiled slightly without looking at him.

"I love the cloudless sky."

"And I love the rain."

"I love the sound of the blue-jay singing."

"And I love to hear silence all around."

"I love the warmth of a spring day."

"I love the winter's solitary snow."

"I love the weeping willow."

"And I love the elm."

"I love the restless rose."

"And I the diminutive daisy."

"I love red."

"And I love green."

"I love a crowded room."

"And I only a one man crowd."

"I love......you."

"And I do too."

A/N- I know it's short but it kind of just worked out that way.
